    Problem With Management via WAN

I did the temp disable on skynet. No change. I noticed that now on skynet when I do anything, I get red [failed] messages at the top for things like cron job and ipsets. Is this normal? Do I need to do anything to turn skynet back on? I did a couple "restart skynet" but those always show...

    Problem With Management via WAN

My LAN IP range and VPN IP range have a different 3rd octet, eg my example of 192.168.0.x vs 192.168.1.x. For testing, I took my phone off wifi, connected to the vpn, and then tried to hit the UI in a browser. It always fails, but both my phone and Asus say the vpn is established.

    Problem With Management via WAN

I just tried that and no change. I am trying to determine what address to use to hit the firewall WebUI.

    Problem With Management via WAN

Here they are: Banned Countries; in pk cn ru lu my kr kp jp il ir cz mo hk br sa vn fr Once I am connected to VPN, how do I reach the control panel of the Asus? Here is an example config like mine: Asus LAN IP: 192.168.0.1 Asus WAN IP: 10.0.0.2 VPN Subnet: 192.168.1.0/16 Now if I am...

    Problem With Management via WAN

I am not familiar with OpenVPN. Does it require that you use the open vpn client or can you just configure any native vpn to connect to it? Also, in the setup I chose Internet because I want to be able to go from an internet machine and manage my firewall. Is that the correct setting? I was...

    Problem With Management via WAN

Nevermind. I think I see what you mean. I am looking thru the exported config now. I am guessing that its using a self-signed certificate. That's ok, but if thats the case, it may restrict where you can access it from because some devices won't allow self-signed certs for encryption and you...

    Problem With Management via WAN

So are you saying that this thing will generate its own certs/keys and I do not have to insert my own certs?

    Problem With Management via WAN

So are you saying that you do not need to put anything in the certificate part? How would that establish an encrypted tunnel if you do not have a cert?

    Problem With Management via WAN

One more question... I just looked at the vpn server config. I am assuming it requires a certificate, otherwise how could it encrypt the tunnel traffic. The UI asks for static key, CA, Server Cert, Server Key, Diffle Hellman Params, CRL, and chain certs. I know what some of this is asking...

    2 Quick Questions

What about the new firmware indicator? Does that mean a new Asuswrt or a new Merlin build?

    Problem With Management via WAN

Well I need to be able to manage it remotely. I had not used the vpn in the past because I was trying to conserve resources on the router and not turn too many things on. I have always used a non-standard port at least and it will require SSL. I suppose I could try the vpn, but it does...

    Problem With Management via WAN

I recently upgraded my fw to latest. When I enable the admin portal from the WAN, it turns on briefly, but after a minute or 2 when I refresh, the option is disabled again. What am I missing? Why would it turn off? I need to be able to manage it when I am away from home.

    2 Quick Questions

    1) Since I recently updated firmware, I now see an indicator that is telling me there's a new firmware available. Is that a new Merlin build or just the regular Asus? 2) Is it possible to increase MTU size for a specific port on the Asus? I see there is a jumbo frames option, but its not per...

Any Way to Tell if Wireless b\g\n is used?

I just ran some tests.... When I connect to the 2.4G I ran 3 tests, with results of 42Mbps, 39, Mbps, 39Mbps. I then changed the mode on the router to N-Only. I re-ran those 3 tests and got: 57Mbps, 40Mbps, 40Mbps. So other than that 1 test, its basically the same. Over a week ago, I used...

Any Way to Tell if Wireless b\g\n is used?

Of course I do not expect 1000 on wifi. I also do not expect 10Mbps. That's the problem. I'd like to know why my 2G wifi ranges from 10Mbps - 40Mbps. Even 40 is too slow imo. 5G is many times faster. I want to have performance be as high as possible, so I am trying to not crowd the 5G...

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Thanks. I already had entware installed before I installed Diversion. I did pick option 1 to uninstall but I found several pieces of Diversion remaining. I am referring to scripts and extra lines in /jffs/scripts. I remembered seeing other things installed, like cron jobs and also some stuff...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

So if I turn on outbound blocking, where does the list of things it blocks come from? Does it rely on the AI features built into the firmware or is there another type of blacklist source? As you can probably tell, I am still very cautious with outbound blocking. My question about a block all...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

So if you enable outbound blocking in skynet, does it only block sites that are listed in the "bad sites" list? I assumed it blocked everything and you have to open what you want. I have enabled the malware ban feature with the default list also.

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Ok, thanks. Where else should I look to find residual stuff of diversion? I just want to make sure 100% of it is gone. Maybe I will reevaluate down the road, but for now I cannot use the router as my DNS and there are far too many pieces to diversion for me to get a good handle on it before I...

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

I ran the uninstall but I noticed there are several leftovers. I have extra scripts and modifications to existing scripts. In the services-stop script, is this from diversion?: /opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung stop I do not know if thats for skynet or diversion. I am trying to completely remove...
