    Upgrade Process for Old Version

I have the RT-AC68U running Merlin version 376.47. I am experiencing some slower speeds than I expect so I guess I need to upgrade to see if it improves. I have read a lot and asked some questions in the past, but I need to nail down the process to upgrade to the newest version. I have been...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Ok. Hmm. So I guess there could be something with my Asus, or the version of the firmware, or something with my modem. I am looking into the firmware upgrade again, but frankly its scares me. Seems like a lot can go wrong and I just don't remember a lot of what I put into this thing.

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Has anyone here been able to validate that the 68U with Merlin can do anything close to 1Gbps? Just trying to make sure that there isn't a limitation of the Asus.

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

What you said about bridge mode makes sense. That is almost how I have gotten it to finally work. I did just read on a forum somewhere on comcast that when in bridge mode, only 1 port is active, so my results would make sense if that's true. Again, makes me wonder if my own modem would fix...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

I just validated that the Asus is set to Level 1 and Jumbo Frame Disabled. I tried changing it to level 2 and enabled jumbo frames but I did not see any change. I am testing on a computer that is plugged into a 1Gb switch sitting right next to the Asus. So its not plugged directly into the...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Thanks. I just checked that setting and it is enabled. Here is the value: Enabled (CTF only). I did do the above-mentioned test also. I put the modem in router mode, so essentially double NAT'ing. The speeds never got anywhere near the 900Mbps+. They stayed in the 200-300 range. So when...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Ok, point taken. So I have comcast come to look at my install. Of course the guy had no idea. He said the line looked good and signal was good. So he replaced the modem. By default, it is in full router mode. When it was activated and in full router mode, I ran a speed test and got over...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Sorry, you lost me there. My point is basically that I am paying for "1000" but do not get anything over "300" really. As of now, computers wired to my Asus have been getting around 250-300. Wireless 5ghz is getting 120-150. Cable drops in different places in my house get lower speeds, so I...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

My modem is a Technicolor. I found similar logs and mine around 40-42 SNR.

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

It was connected. I rebooted the router and no real change. I then rebooted the modem, and then the router. Now my speed on 5ghz is over 100. Strange stuff.... I would like to get wifi more well-tuned so it was better on 2.4ghz and more consistent on 5ghz, but I think I need the Comcast guy...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Something is just wonky. I just started doing some testing on my ethernet ports throughout my house to test the speed. When I went back to 5Ghz wifi, its barely hitting 50mb now. I realize it can fluctuate, but geez this is ridiculous. On a wired connection into the router, I am getting just...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Thanks. Just before I read this message, I changed the SSID of my 5Ghz network so that I could specifically connect to it. Now my laptop is connected to it and got about 160mb again. As I watch the log, I do see some devices go from 2.4 to 5, and vice versa. 5Ghz is MUCH faster and it is set...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Thanks for that last reply. I will try it. Here is a test that I just conducted: Changed all routers to different channel. I only changed the 2.4 channel on my 68U. I disconnected all Alexa devices, phones, tablets, and Ring doorbell. This only left my laptop connected to wireless...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Is there a way I can look at the router and figure out which devices are connected to 2.4 vs 5? How about finding which devices are using b/g/n? Also, is there a way to see which devices are using more bandwidth?

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

Is that the control channel? All my other routers do not show me different settings for 2.4ghz vs 5ghz like my 68U does. I have gone to the other routers and set them to different channels, but again it doesn't give me the option for frequency.

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

I agree that I should be getting more and I have the provider coming on Friday. I just think that there is an issue with wifi because I was getting 150mb+ not even 2 weeks ago, but now it struggles to hit 30mb. Plus, when I disable the 2.4Hz radio, it jumps back up to 100+. I thought maybe...

    Having Problem With RT-AC68U

I am having some issues with my router and am looking for some help. I may have more than one issue, but here is what I am seeing: The most immediate problem is that suddenly my wifi download speeds have dropped. I used to typically get around 150mb download when connecting to my wifi from my...

Question About Extending WiFi Network & Performance

I have an Asus AC68U running Merlin Build Firmware:376.47 as my main router in my 3-stoory home. That device is in my basement office with all of my other equipment. I noticed the signal getting low with about 1 bar of wifi in certain areas of my top floor so I setup some other wifi routers as...

    2 Quick Questions

Ok, so I would need to restore, then redo the jffs/optware setup? As I recall, none of the custom scripts are possible without the jffs, correct? Its been so long ago, I don't really remember it. I may consider staying on my old stuff....this is getting to be a lot of stuff.
