Dual WAN or should I ???

That’s what I’m afraid of. Guess I’m just trying to hold on and figure out something that can’t be fixed as it’s currently setup.

Dual WAN router for two ISPs

I currently have Fidium (they bought out Verizon Fios locally) & Xfinity setup on dual WAN with a Asus router. Using dual wan for failover mode I’ve read is more reliable. I currently have it set for load balancing with is buggy at times but it’s helped me keep my internet use under the data...

Dual WAN or should I ???

For multiple reasons I have 2 internet connections running to my home. I currently have Fidium. (1GiG) & Xfinity (1.2 GiG) running to my home. My equipment is a (ONT/Modem) Fidium , Netgear, (routers) Asus AXE16000, Asus AX11000, Netgear Nighthawk R7000. Currently I’m running the AXE16000 as...

    2.5 Gbps LAN/Wan port

Modem has a 2.5GbE port. Service with overprovisioning sitting around 1.4-1.5 Gig.

    2.5 Gbps LAN/Wan port

on the AX11000 it has a 2.5 Gbps LAN/WAN port. I’m currently seeing a 1.5 GBPS from my internet when I’m direct to the modem. As of now I’m running the Xbox series X off that port but it seems like a waste because the Xbox only has a Gig port anyways. I’m wondering if I’d get more out of...

    Ethernet question

Thinking it was the unit itself. The speed fluctuations were odd but it never completely dropped signal. Problems seem to be improved after swapping out the unit last night

    Ethernet question

I replaced my modem last night with the same model. The issues I was having seem to be gone. The 5 foot cat6 cable is working just fine…. So far. Maybe I had a lemon unit and it was a warning sign

    Ethernet question

So I got my Cat6a cable in today. Same exact issue. I did a full power cycle of the modem & router. Cat6 was putting out exactly the same low speeds as my Cat8 cables. Plugged in the 1 foot Cat8 and speeds returned immediately. it’s like the Ethernet plug is having issues sending signals beyond...

    Ethernet question

What I’m going to try is a 3 foot cat6e cable running to the modem. I’m stuck with cat8 everywhere else. They seem to be running fine on the other jacks. Seems like that’s my best shot to fix this.

    Ethernet question

The issue is the modem is accepting a Cat8 cable but not longer that 1 foot. What’s funny is I just realized my brother had the same issues with his Cat8 cables so I gave him my Cat5e. He was getting drops. As for quality I always research quality brands. I didn’t buy cheap cables. I just got...

    Ethernet question

I’m upgrading from cat7. I was a early adopter and they don’t seem to be handling past 1 gig speeds. I just need a good quality patch cable for the modem to router connection. I purchased Smolink flat cable for my gaming console. It’s working fine for now. It’s really just that one function of...

    Ethernet question

Yes I understand it’s overkill. I just hate upgrading cables every other year. Does Smolink and Glanics make bad cables? That’s what I found on most review sites for quality. Amazon had short term deals on the cables I purchased direct off the company site.

    Ethernet question

Then point me to a quality Cat8 brand. I purchased Smolink and Glanics off Amazon from the companies store. Based on tech/it reviews I found them near the top. They just had sales on the specific cables I purchased.

    Ethernet question

I’m pretty sure I’ve narrowed it down to the cables. It really is like magic when I pop that 1 foot Cat8 cable in and the speeds immediately return and don’t disappear an hour later. What’s odd is some of the cables gave me perfect speeds out the package. Then 1 hour or overnight the issues...

    Ethernet question

I eliminate the router from the equation. Tested direct off the modem. It’s a netgear nighthawk 2050. It has a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet. It’ll jump instantly to 500-700 mbps or just stay low around 20-30 mbps on a 1.5 Gbps connection. Depends on the cable. It’s really all over the place. Like I said...

    Ethernet question

I recently upgraded my network cables to cat8 (I know overkill). I got a good price so I figured might as well upgrade past cat6 since it was the same price. I’ve run into an issue with the Cat5e patch cable going from my modem to my router. I’ve tried replacing it with multiple cat8 cables at...

    GiG speed issues

if I test directly off the modem using a laptop won’t I be limited by the speed of the laptop card.

    GiG speed issues

I recently upgraded my router to an ASUS AX11000 and modem to a Netgear 2050. Both rate for gig plus connection. I’m using cat8 cables. I’m running the internal speed test on the router itself (I also change servers just in case). I’m only seeing 940 mbps with a 1.2 gbps plan. With over...

    Latency help ax88u needed

Latency was around 74ms with Netgear. It’s improved but just wondering if there’s a way to get it even lower

    Latency help ax88u needed

so I just picked up the Asus AX88u for gaming, upgrading from a netgear ac1900. Loved it but I couldn’t update the netgear firmware without it putting my download speeds into the ground. this forum has been a great help with fixing the net gear and now setting up this Asus as a stand alone...
