Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

Thanks for confirming that. I wonder what makes the difference. And just in case: I did create explicit rules in the Windows Firewall to allow Inbound and Outbound connections for 1094 from and to any address. As I wrote above, - the purpose is enable testing certain configuration options...

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

I was able to test my connection from an outside network, and it is working. So, the culprit for the problem was connecting from inside the LAN. Does anybody know how to enable that? It would be handy for testing a few configuration options without necessity to connect from a few miles away.

Sorry for bumping up this thread. I hope someone would be able to answer this question posted above:

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

If I have OpenVPN configured on the router, - can I connect to it from the computer on the LAN of that router (the same subnet, 192.168.10.x), or do I have to be connecting from an outside network? I am trying to test my OpenVPN connection from a laptop, but the connection is never established...

I apologize for the bump, -- I just want to make sure these bugs get noticed.

    Minor bugs

Reporting based on 380.69_2 (on RT-N66R), but I've observed this in the previous versions as well: 1. Page /Main_TrafficMonitor_realtime.asp The link to "Traffic Monitor FAQ" is broken. 2. I don't know if this is intentional or accidental: When you are installing a new version of the firmware...

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.68 is available

I just discovered a weird error in the WebUI: WAN configuration page, - if the HostName field has any letters capitalized, the pages indicates an error: Expected behavior: Either capital letters should be allowed, or the error message should include the them as being excluded. I don't know...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

It depends when they were put in action. Mine is just under 2 y.o. I bought it in a hurry as a replacement to the failing Trident TEW-692GR that stopped serving DNS requests a few days past the 3-year warrant expiration. Ghm... I still have Linksys 54G (ver. 2) that I turned on 2 years ago...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

Ha! I think I found the culprit for the problem with flashing the new version, - I hope it could be useful to someone. Just before doing all this updates, I changed the setting Tools->Other Settings-> Traffic History Location to NVRAM. (I was hoping this would prevent the traffic history across...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

I tried to do it two more times, - first with a "warm" reboot (via the menu) before flashing, second with the "cold" reboot (i.e. by removing the power for 30 seconds). These both times the "counter" went all the way up to 100% (as opposed to 50-some % the previous two times). But still, it...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

I have RT-N66R, and it failed to update from 380.64_2. (I don't expect it to be related to the issue mentioned.) I tried twice. Both times it was upgrading, not giving any errors or messages, but when it booted up, I could see the old version remaining (as seen everywhere, including the system...

Failure to mount USB HDD and Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-N66R

Thank you for your quick response (and the great work!). I believe my last version version of the Asus firmware was 378.x, possibly 3.0.0.4.378.9459. And that was working fine with this same USB HDD. After that I've installed 360.58 and then 360.59, both exhibiting this problem. And I see that...

380.59 on RT-N66R: traffic monitor losses traffic statistics

I've noticed that with 380.59 on RT-N66R, there is no "daily", "monthly" or even "last 24 hours" traffic information shown. Only the real time is available. the previous version, 380.58 seemed to work fine. It looks like a new bug. (And yet another thread seems to be also specific to v.59...

Failure to mount USB HDD and Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-N66R

It looks like some type of a bug in the firmware: even if I explicitly and properly unmounted the external USB drive from the router, and reattached, - the router (RT-N66R) first needs to scan the HDD first (which takes lots of time, - 20-30 minutes, possibly more for a 2TB drive.) This was not...

Failure to mount USB HDD and Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-N66R

A followup on that: With a freshly rebooted router, I tried to attach the HDD again. After doing the same mount attempt and then unmounting, the router was seemingly "chewing" on the HDD for a while. After that, it finished, and logged the following log records: Jul 6 00:09:11 asusware...

Failure to mount USB HDD and Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-N66R

I have found several threads with a very similar problem: various HDDs couldn't be mounted on the RT-N66R running Asuswrt-Merlin. In my case, it was running 380.58, but I just upgraded to 380.59. Both versions behave the same way. According to the logs, The disk gets mounted first and then...
