Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor When I stat the related files and symlinks on the new Synology volume, it shows that the files and symlinks report the same inode number in use and the same block size for both. Thank you for the example and clarification. Respectfully, Gary

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor I thought you might like to know... While directories are 4096 bytes in size, symlinks appear to only be 28 or 29 bytes in size. Respectfully, Gary

[SOLUTION] WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly

@Tech9 Yeah... I read through a number of the similar threads, which provided some points for troubleshooting. It's difficult to tell if the Asuswrt or the ISP DHCP Server is the culprit. As I stated... Nothing (firmware or config) on the Asuswrt side changed. I've changed the title of this...

[SOLUTION] asus-wrapper-acme.sh Adds --dns Support for Let's Encrypt Wildcard SAN Certs to Integrated Asus acme.sh Implementation

You may need to mount bind the dnsapi directory as well: /bin/mount -o bind /jffs/sbin/dnsapi /usr/sbin/dnsapi /bin/mount -o bind /jffs/sbin/asus-wrapper-acme.sh /usr/sbin/acme.sh

[SOLUTION] WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly

All: Recently, my Asuswrt-Merlin syslog.log started complaining that "WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly" with WAN0 disconnecting and reconnecting every couple of minutes, which was very noticeable while web browsing. Apr 19 16:02:49 router-wap01 WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP...

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor I'm still running through data integrity tests. With the exception of having to change the user ownership for all files, the data appears to be migrated successfully to the new Synology 920+ volume. # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/md0...

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor It sounds like the 4096 block size has been optimized and is the sweet-spot for the ext4 file system. If I leave it at the 4096 block size, it means the inode ratio will remain the same; thus, the only option is to move the data to a larger volume? Respectfully, Gary

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor It appears that the default block size for an ext4 file system is 4096, which I have confirmed observing that the symlinks and directories on the existing file system are 4096 bytes each. The majority of small files I am working with are close to 4096 bytes in size or less. I'm...

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@ColinTaylor Good Eye! This is why troubleshooting is worthwhile in understanding a problem and not perpetuating the issue. I have a Synology920+ that I have been meaning to migrate this data to and intend to continue to grow the thousands of symlinks. That being said... Would you still...

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

All: I stumbled across @latenitetech wiki article that answered many of my questions on the subject. https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/USB-Disk-Check-at-Boot/1016d7887ed1ae67fcefb4dec88a8e1a8757bf92 I ran the following recommended commands to stop all Entware services and swap on...

@Martinski @ColinTaylor @sfx2000 @Tech9 @L&LD It's nice to see that the whole gang is still around. Except, where is @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow ? I went through and cleaned up the /jffs volume, wondering if it being 99% full was somehow related to the issue. # df -h Filesystem...

Attached USB Flash Drive Storage Not Reporting Accurate Available Space

@L&LD I think best-used-by dates are a gimmick. I have a server with a hard drive that is still functioning properly that has been in operation for almost 25-years. I do make regular backups of the data as I expect that it will fail--someday. In the case of this USB drive attached to my...
