Best alternative addons to AIProtection on AX86U?

What are the benefits of Quad9 and Cloudflare over NextDNS? Why do you recommend those instead? Here's what I can come up with pros and cons. I'd like to learn more about them. I realise i'm biased due to using and paying for NextDNS, but I tried the others, and this is my pros and cons list...

Skynet Is skynet reporting wrong outgoing ip-addresses?

Okay this is strange. I've been running all the apps that I did when Skynet reported those outbound blocks for the past 24+ hours, and so far 0 outbound blocks. How is that possible? Why and what was phoning home yesterday, but today is completely silent?

Best alternative addons to AIProtection on AX86U?

I don't game, but considering NextDNS is in the top 3 best performing DNS's in the world with average 20ms latency, I'd guess it doesn't affect any sort of perforamnce. Here where I live, NextDNS is down to 7ms latency, which is just stupid fast. You can check yourself on ping.nextdns.io

Best alternative addons to AIProtection on AX86U?

Malware/Threats protections Instead of Cloudflare, I can recommend NextDNS cli. It runs on merlin, and allows for several ways of blocking malware, ads, trackers, parental controls, intelligent threat feeds against malware sites, it encrypts your DNS with DoH etc etc. You can even choose from a...

    2 x AX86U vs 2 x XT8

Hi RaveBoy, and welcome to the forum. SNBforums is super great for discussing and asking for help with home networking. A lot of the senior members here are incredibly knowledgable! It's not so great however for asking for recommendations on routers, since the majority of us are quite biased...

Skynet Is skynet reporting wrong outgoing ip-addresses?

Stage 4 made me chuckle a bit "WAN connection is getting closer to what LAN is". That's basically what I'm doing I think hahaha. My wife is already annoyed from all the whitelisting I have to do in NextDNS because of how aggressive 1Hosts Pro block list is. She frequently just theters her mac...

Skynet Is skynet reporting wrong outgoing ip-addresses?

So you're saying I'm probably better off uninstalling skynet because it's too advanced for me (fair enough, I actually agree) or just leave it at default, but not worry about all the entries in the skynet logs, even if skynet blocks a ton of outbound traffic that I don't recognize? It's just...

Skynet Is skynet reporting wrong outgoing ip-addresses?

But, I can't find the ip addresses skynet claims to have blocked in my software firewall. I don't understand how it can bypass the firewall on the computer, but the router picks it up and blocks it? I also don't understand why anything on my computer would call home to a cyprus telecom and...

Skynet Is skynet reporting wrong outgoing ip-addresses?

I've been getting more and more outbound blocks lately from my mac mini serving as a home server - downloads, media, network time machine backups and backblaze cloud backup. I clicked on the otx.alienvault links and this is what I found: The first IP 157.97.132.236 (alienvault link) is from a...

How do you protect your home network from online and local threats?

People who feel more comfrotable with it, but don't configure it in any way such as blocking incoming or outgoing connections, is that for the community maintained malware-lists, or something else?

How do you protect your home network from online and local threats?

hmm, I don't have any open ports, at least not put in by me, and I don't need to control outgoing traffic. I wonder, is Skynet wasted on me?

NextDNS but skip it on a couple of devices

You can override NextDNS I believe by manually setting the DNS servers in the operating system of said devices.

Diversion Diversion not working - Incomplete NextDNS removal (solved)

High latency in your home put aside, what is the benefit of running Diversion (adblocking) with or without Unbound (DNS)? Isn't that just extra work for the router? Wouldn't it be better to use NextDNS if the latency is 10-20ms (where I live) and let the router focus on other stuff? Ax86u.
