What's the best router or extender to penetrate concrete exterior walls?

Good suggestions in this thread. Genie GUI... Manual http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX2700/EX2700_UM_EN.pdf ...might have what you are looking for. Make sure your firmware is up to date. If you have an iPhone or android mobile, there’s apps to gauge signal strength to all SSIDs...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

I agree. Yet, while your points are valid in general, there are a few lynch pins other than willingness, patience, and taking it in. I’ll explain below. Firstly, not everyone is physically capable. I fall into this category. I’m a right leg above knee amputee in need of a new revision of the...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

I’ll ask. Thank you for your suggestion about unticking bandsteering and alleviating my concerns with this router. Having a nice, not-buggy triband router WITH extender/media bridge has improved the living room WiFi signal and speeds. This will be my next pursuit. Wonderful suggestion...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

Thanks RogerSC. I am planning to do one run for the living room. That should let me place the extender/bridge in the kitchen :) Just got it set up! seems to be solid so far, but can't find static ipv6 DNS settings. Any ideas where I can find/set those up? I'll be putting up the wireless media...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

Putting it up today while the new furnace is installed. My new tv is getting replaced today due to a defective screen as well. I will have a couple hot minutes to swap out and set it up in a bit.

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

I have a couple questions. Do I need a single Point of Entry MoCA filter at the end of the run to the house/main splitter, or PoE filters at the end of every run in the house? Will the MoCA 2.0 adapters have any impact on the internet speed to the home? Since my home was struck by lightning...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

This is a great idea. As far as mesh systems go, I have a pfsense machine I would like to tinker with. Kudos for the MoCA suggestion!

Will do. Thanks for the heads up. Will post back about how it goes :)

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

I nabbed one from micro center. All four on the shelf were v2’s.

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

You’re absolutely right. I have used these brilliant devices before! Unfortunately, and rightfully unbeknownst to you, I have everything plugged into MOVs and UPS systems. Just no vacancy to a direct receptacle. I like where this tech is going! Did ASUS implement band steering on the 68u or...

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

I’m leery of belkin products, firstly, but I have been looking for a router that has strong WiFi signals for a new android tv box. My current router is an 86u, and it’s in a less than ideal location for delivering signal through a chicane hallway and a bedroom door (best place I could put it)...

    Gotcha. Bummer.

    ASUS AiMesh Reviewed

According to this ASUS rep, features from the 86u are adopted by the child nodes (68u) if 86u is used as the root. I would presume smart-connect would be one of those features, but maybe that’s not the case? @1:08

Good to know! How do you like your AiMesh setup?

I am not keen on the idea of having WPS enabled for my old home with no Ethernet wiring. I guess I need to start wiring the house for a couple WAPs and a capable managed PoE switch, as I’d rather have more router features and an Ethernet backhaul

I groped the walls through JFresh's QoS scripts and got a neat result! Mom's PC. Gigabit cable via wifi to desktop integrated AC radios. fq_CoDel. Not too shabby, but can I get this over copper with 12 wifi devices?? :(

I'll put Merlin on and try running FreshJR's Adaptive QoS script. Maybe I'm just over-policing my QoS or things arent being categorized right.

I have a 940/40 Xfinity package, an ASUS RT-86u, and a NETGEAR CM1000,which has been great for my mother and I. My younger sib will be making extended stays, and when there, my network can have 12+ devices, all but two on the wifi radios. The sib loves to Face Time and Youtube, mom loves...
