    OK, learning something here...I can edit the rcS file and sbin/telnetd to enable telnet, but if I edit services.conf by itself, it either doesn't bring up the services I expect to see, or it fails completely with an "Invalid file" error. So, my tools are OK, but it seems I'm missing something...
