Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

For sure not, I have had this issue for quite a while. It is 6th day and still no WAN drop (with 2nd WAN failover based on ping), unless Merlin has removed WAN disconnection prompts from logs to stop people bothering him ;-)

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

I have flashed RT-AC68U with 380.64 over 380.62 on the 20th of December and have not experienced any single WAN drop since then, which is now 5 days. Before there were 2-3 drops every day. I can't see any major fixes or changes to WAN implementation, unless it has been patched by Asus and not...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

The fix by RMerlin didn't fix the issues on my end either.

    WAN uptime

I agree it would be nice to have such info. Was using Tomato for few weeks and despite 5min DHCP WAN IP lease time, it summed UP "connection" time nicely until it was dropped or switched to WAN2. I was able to have a quick look and check how long it's been up. With Asus I have to check the logs...

Access DSL modem in bridge mode

There is no WinSCP on OS X. Is there any easy way to add the script via Mac? For the reference, I can only access my bridged modem if there is WAN connection up, if it is down, I can't access it. Will adding this script fix it? I was using Tomato by Shibby for few weeks recently and on WAN...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

I am not using AT&T, but have this issue in Poland with 4G connection. I have Dovado Tiny AC setup in bridge mode + Huawei E398 USB and I have to use Automatic DHCP IP on the router - as this is the way Dovado handles the bridge by giving out 300 seconds lease time (they claim to do this as...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

Yeah I am sure that thousands of users are wrong... I have DSL-AC68U running solid on PPPoE renewing the lease every 24 hour from my ISP. I have RT-AC56U running through bridged fibre modem PPPoE - works solid. The problem is with Automatic WAN DHCP protocol, which is buggy when it comes to...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

So I have flashed Tomato Shibby v138 over Merlin 380.61 on RT-AC68U and the WAN DHCP issue is gone. The connection has been rock solid for more than a week now with watchdog enabled. Highly recommended to those with the problems above until guys in the suits will learn how to fix or implement...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

I am just saying and asking Merlin to put this Asus shame to end by pushing them to fix or even rewriting the whole WAN DHCP protocol. What is not reproducible from above-average user, does not mean that it cannot be reproduced under some stress development tests by "not novice" dev team.

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

That's simple. Put back old WAN DHCP protocol from firmwares they are asking you to downgrade to. If they kind of acknowledge the issue and they know in which FWs the issues do not exist, they should know where the mistakes have been made and how to address them. Otherwise it's a sign of a poor...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

Just google: "Asus dropping WAN" and you will see the justification. Also many users who have been fighting, simply gave up, bought a Netgear and never seen this issue again. So if not Asus is at fault then who?

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

Not sure if you understand but I am expecting for basic feature such as Automatic IP (WAN DHCP) to work properly. If it can work properly on $30 routers, it should work faultless on $300 routers. Beside if you read the links provided, you will see that Asus is suggesting downgrading the firmware...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

I am so angry at Asus because of this. Apparently they acknowledged there is a bug but no ETA on fixing this. It would be great if Merlin with his insider contacts push Asus to fix this asap (yes I know Merlin doesn't touch WAN but still can force Asus to have a look ASAP at this major bug)...

DUAL WAN: watchdog failback not working as it should.

I think there is some issue with the watchdog working properly. I am running RT-AC68U FW 380.61. My primary WAN is 4G connection via bridged Dovado, AC68U gets DHCP WAN IP lease time from my ISP of 300 seconds. The failover WAN2 connection is Huawei LTE router. I am able drop primary WAN with...

AC88U with Merlin 380.60 beta WAN connection drops (DHCP)

Does it mean mine is not working due to counters being zeroed? ASUSWRT-Merlin RT-AC68U 380.61-0 Fri Aug 5 01:18:59 UTC 2016 admin@RT-AC68U-72F8:/tmp/home/root# iptables -nvL Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source...

Getflix and automatic updating my IP address.

I also suggest to check: "Use slow DNS lookup" on Getflix IP page setting to prevent some DDNS caching issues.

[Alpha] Preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61

WAN DHCP saga continues. I am now leaning more towards Asus fault simply because every new connection via bridged Dovado to my ISP gives dynamic (different) public IP, which is not the case in the example below: Jul 26 16:50:48 dhcp client: bound 37.228.7.241 via 37.228.7.242 during 300...

[Alpha] Preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61

Did you try any non Asus router? Perhaps cheap TP-Link just to see where the problem is. I also don't want to say too early but after flashing 380.61_alpha1 from stock 3831 and doing factory reset, I can't see as many issues with WAN DHCP as previously and the issues I had can't be blamed on...

    RT-AC88U

Just wondering if it is possible to use link aggregation in dual wan mode to combine the speed of both WANs or this feature is for LAN/NAS usage only?

[Alpha] Preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61

No, it doesn't. I have started using dual wan mode since 3 days anyway. I am not using USB modem connected to AC68U. I am using Dovado Tiny AC in bridge mode + E398 USB modem connected to Dovado. Dovado makes very good products and firmware. There is not much to do by Asus in this case, except...
