    RT-AC87U 3.0.0.4.378_4839 beta

So, here's my question. What's 4825's changelog over anything else older? I never even saw that version (on 4608 currently).

    AC66U - DYNDNS.ORG

I'll keep an eye on that. Pricing on their domain registrar service is exactly why Dynamic DNS is the only thing I do through them. I'd have loved to make someone my one-stop shop for my domain names and Dynamic DNS, but they charge an arm and a leg compared to Name.com, GoDaddy, and others...

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.4608 - Just released!

Perhaps because at the time it was released, we didn't buy it for MU-MIMO. The RT-AC68P wasn't out, or I'd have purchased it. I bought it because my RT-AC66 didn't have the chops to support OpenVPN client with its single-core processor. The 87 also had the new AiProtection (which is basically...

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.4608 - Just released!

I'm not sure why people keep saying this. To have MU-MIMO support, you need two things. One is a router that supports it. The other is a network adapter (client) that supports it. As Merlin said, there aren't *any* network adapters. It doesn't matter a single thing if ASUS' router...

    AC66U - DYNDNS.ORG

I've never had an issue with DynDNS as well. Note --they issued multiple warnings about their free offerings going away before they finally did. I don't do everything through them. Their domain registration service is way more expensive than the alternatives, so I just link my domain paid for...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 is out

I would append that to "Using any non-alpha character than perhaps a dash or underscore". Even then, I don't use either of those either in my SSIDs. To those not familiar with enterprise networking (which doesn't include RMerlin) using non-alpha characters other than those in hostnames...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Did you turn beamforming on when using the beta? By default, beamforming was disabled in the beta --ASUS did this intentionally. People who turned it back on were reporting choppy WiFi and/or issues with Apple devices connecting. Turning off beamforming resolved issues for most of them.

So do not many people like the AC 2400 or 3200?

While others have mentioned their love of the AC66 here, the biggest thing to remember (for enthusiasts) is what the AC-68 you listed offers above it. The AC68U/R 's move to a dual-core ARM CPU instead of a single-core MIPS CPU means that some features they and newer routers support either are...

    RT-AC87U 3.0.0.4.378_4608 Unofficial Beta Firmware

The beamforming on the beta release was specifically turned off. As it is a beta, I have a feeling that they're still smoothing that out; ASUS@SG on another forum commented they would turn it back on in the final release. I've not done a factory reset in quite awhile, but I decided to reset...

So do not many people like the AC 2400 or 3200?

I am one of the people who has had a relatively stable experience with my RT-AC87R after the first couple of firmware updates. Starting with .2769 firmware, I have had no major issues. That said, there are enough people out there that have had issues that I cannot discount them. Probably the...

    Buying the RT-AC87U

Kel-L, Welcome. I'm an RT-AC87R owner myself, having purchased it from Best Buy. Unlike some, I have had good experiences with it. However, if I were to recommend a more economical use of your money, I'd probably recommend purchasing the RT-AC68P from Best Buy. It has the same main...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Well, the above might explain why I have had no issues with my RT-AC87. My results for the Quantenna: temperature_rfic_external = 0.0 temperature_rfic_internal = 59.3 temperature_bbic_internal = 75.0 And for the Broadcom: CPU temperature : 77øC Based on what everyone else is saying, I can...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Running 3754, I do not have the 100% CPU usage; I have AiProtection on except for malicious sites blocking. So far, in both beta firmwares, my time zone settings have stayed on Eastern, the original setting. The system time has stayed accurate according to the system log page. I haven't had...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Thanks for the heads-up. Sadly, no notes so far on what has changed or what Quantenna driver they're using. Trying it for grins. Nothing broke from 3562 for me so far.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I just upgraded to 3562. My upgrade was really odd; the router did not reboot on its own and I never lost wireless connection, just WAN connection. After waiting for five minutes to see if the reboot process would occur (it did not) I powered off my router, left it off for a minute, then...

Xclaim Wireless Xi-2 Dual-Band Indoor 2x2 802.11n Access Point Reviewed

Actually, a small number of them can be clustered. This is meant for small-business wifi networking, so the closest comparison is to Ubiquiti's Unifi access points and Cisco Small Business, but with support for less nodes. From what Tim mentions, it looks like the signal strength/range is...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Update: I applied the beta firmware. While the process was uneventful, I got prompted to accept a new security certificate on completion by Internet Explorer. Now, IE 11 (running on Server 2012R2, I update my router wired from my server) won't let me proceed to log in to the router, because I...

    RT-AC87U AiProtection

If Trend Micro or others did this, it would not only affect their sales (e.g., a security issue developed by someone selling you an appliance in charge of your Internet security), but would require actually being able to identify you as an individual and market back to you based on this. With...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Question --have we all seen any consistency with the type of devices dropping 5GHz wireless? Are people having mainly problems with Apple (e.g., iPad, Macbook, etc)., or specific wifi chipsets (Intel, Broadcom, Atheros?) Not asking for my sake, but trying to figure out for others if the...

My Experiance with the RT-AC87U And No It's not Good

I have a DHCP pool of 192.168.11.120-11.200. I have set static reservations within that pool for about half a dozen devices, so that 11.120, 121, 122, etc. are assigned by the RT-AC87R to specific MAC addresses. As stated before, the reservations are "within the pool". These are for several...
