    Well if your PC server is working good i suggest you keep it. All current NAS have very bad performance and i am still waiting for Intel 's atom based NAS. But if i HAD to choose one i would go for Dlink, Cheap and Simple and get the job done for now. Although i seriously think it is due...

    Seems to me a good spec and features NAS with relatively low price. Anyone has used it or other similar OEM type product?

    Do you power off your NAS when not in use?

    What is the point of NAS when you power it on and off all the time? I could have all my files stored and shared on my computer and only available when i turn it on. So the answer is no. That is another reason why we use NAS instead of computer is because NAS are generally less power hungry.

    For the past years people have been shouting that we have excess amount of CPU power. And yet we cant do raid5 with more then 25MB/s in software mode? Which doesn't sound logical to me at all.

    If we look at the graph in the new Intel SS4200-E Entry Storage System slidshows, It shows all three , Iomega, Synology and Intel drop to mere 25MB/s at the end when file size are big. Which means they are all limited to 25MB/s. Surely Raid 5 or HDD isn't a problem as 25Mb/s is very slow speed...
