    Asus XT8 Hardware Version Difference

So am I the only one on this forum with no issues with XT8 V1 using wireless backhaul and the GNUton Fork? Either I'm the luckiest sob around or I stumbled upon the perfect settings to make this work. Maybe I should post screenshots of my settings, although I'm sure that would result in tons...

    AiMesh & Asuswrt-Merlin

Ha!! Not so fast...I'm on the 386 release. I was thinking of upgrading, but now it seems I may want to hold off as my mesh has truly been rock solid since installing the 386 release back around last August. You know the saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

    AiMesh & Asuswrt-Merlin

I have Merlin/GNUton fork on my XT8s (main and 2 nodes), and other than having to initially pair the nodes over a wired connection, once paired, the mesh over wireless backhaul to both nodes works beautifully. I'm also using the 160Mhz DFS channels for the backhaul without issues. Guess I'm lucky?

Stable mesh system with dedicated wireless backhaul

You're right, he will! I should have mentioned that to get the nodes to join after reset and fork install he will need to use an ethernet connection for the primary to see the node. Once joined though, the wireless backhaul works beautifully.

Stable mesh system with dedicated wireless backhaul

Before throwing in the towel on your XT8 mesh, try GNUton's customized firmware release. I've been using the GNUton 386.07_2-gnuton1 firmware since its release back in August of 2022. 386.07_2-gnuton1 is a fork from the Merlin firmware releases, and it has been rock solid stable for my 3 node...

ZenWifi XT8 suddenly no Ethernet connections working

If your netgear switch allows you to enable "portfast" on the ports, please do so. Basically, it sounds like your netgear switch has been elected as the root bridge of your network, which is a bad thing. Too much to go into on this forum, so I'll direct you to a google search on spanning tree...

ZenWifi XT8 suddenly no Ethernet connections working

Sounds like it could be a spanning tree issue. Try disconnecting the Netgear switch and see if your ethernet ports come back to life.

    Best stable firmware for XT8

I've been using the GNUton 386.07_2-gnuton1 firmware since its release back in August of 2022. 386.07_2-gnuton1 is a fork from the Merlin firmware releases, and it has been rock solid stable for my 3 node XT8 mesh. You can find the firmware here...

At my wits end (XT8 Mesh)

I have three XT8s (1 Main, 2 Nodes), and since migrating from ASUS firmware to GNuton's fork (386.07_2-gnuton1), my system has been rock solid. I've been on it for several months now, with absolutely zero issues. My wireless backhaul consistently stays locked in on the DFS 160MHz band as well...

Why the lack of love for the ASUS pre-packaged AI Mesh systems?

Thanks Ozark! I got frustrated with Netgear's constant firmware upgrades that always seemed to break something. The lack of control over fine tuning network settings played a huge part in the decision to ditch the Orbi as well. I had owned ASUS routers before, so as soon as they released the...

Why the lack of love for the ASUS pre-packaged AI Mesh systems?

Yeah, I was lazy - too many IoT devices on the network to reconfigure!

Stable ASUS ZenWifi AX (XT8) Firmware

Hi Simon, I also own an XT8 network, and I'm running the GNUton fork firmware. So far, it's been rock solid. I recommend you upgrade to it. The current version is 386.07_2-gnuton1

Why the lack of love for the ASUS pre-packaged AI Mesh systems?

I should note that I'm running 160MHz for the backhaul.

Why the lack of love for the ASUS pre-packaged AI Mesh systems?

I don't understand it...I have a 3 node XT8 network running on the GNuton fork, and it works flawlessly. Here's my SpeedTest results from my laptop which connects to the sunroom node, which has to travel through stucco (with wire mesh) to get to the primary node. My ISP is 1Gb down, 50Mb up...

Help / Advice Needed: Non-stop "Register interface" events in XT8 system log. Screenshot included...

I posted this in another forum and didn't get any responses, so let's give it a shot here. As it says in the title, I'm getting non-stop register interface events in my logs. The interface appears to be one of my mesh nodes (I have a 3 router mesh, all ZenWiFi XT8s). Has anyone ever seen this...

Non-stop "Register interface" events in XT8 system log. Screenshot included...

As it says in the title, I'm getting non-stop register interface events in my logs. The interface appears to be one of my mesh nodes (I have a 3 router mesh, all ZenWiFi XT8s). As anyone ever seen this, or knows what it means? Is it something I need to be concerned with? Thanks in advance!

Latest GNUton fork for XT8 kills traffic analyzer

Hi, I'm currently running fork 386.07_2-gnuton1 on my XT8 three node mesh. After this recent upgrade, I've noticed that going into the Traffic Analyzer / Statistics tab shows zero traffic over the last 24 hours. Furthermore, once on this screen, the router GUI locks up and I'm unable to...

ASUS Aimesh Node Connects to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz

Not overly familiar with your model, but is it possible to set you 5GHz band to 80MHz only? This would prevent it from connecting to the 2.4GHz band.

ASUS Aimesh Node Connects to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz

Hi Rana, with RSSI values, numbers closer to 0 are higher strength, not lower. So your -51 signal is stronger than the -60 signal.
