Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.78SF

@Voxel Ever since losing all 7800 settings installing 74.4SF, I've delayed updating to your newest releases until user feedback is provided. I decided to take the plunge today. I installed 78SF just now. No issues. Shields Up tests pass. After disabling the 7800 Traffic Meter after the 74.4SF...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.77SF

I disabled uPnP prior to posting. Good advice though. Thanks Superman.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.77SF

@Voxel Does 77SF mitigate The CallStranger security flaw CVE-2020-12695?

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.77SF

Thanks. Just trying to figure out if Traffic Meter is causing issues specific to my 7800 or it's being seen by others.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.77SF

Glad 77SF was an easy upgrade for you too. Did you have Traffic Meter enabled prior to upgrading to 74.4SF? Did you have Traffic Meter enabled prior to upgrading to 77SF? If so, was DST enabled in either situation?

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.77SF

@Voxel Although I was on Needles and Pins (pun intended), I just upgraded from 74.4SF to 77SF successfully. The only nit was when I uploaded 77SF to the 7800, I got a warning that said: 192.168.1.1 says: Warning! You are trying to download firmware with version V1.0.2.77SF which is older than...

[R7800] Will no longer save settings after reboot.

Don't worry about us. In the overall scheme of things, this 7800 issue is mice nuts. Your family and you are #1! Voxel, all the best!

[R7800] Will no longer save settings after reboot.

Thanks. Makes sense. Vicious cycle. So when you enter the parameters manually, the router saves them but never reboots? If so, would it be possible for @Voxel to modify the the Restore button function to not reboot the 7800 (presuming it would operate correctly)?

[R7800] Will no longer save settings after reboot.

Perhaps I missed this in the thread (or I'm stupid). Is there a theory as to why a previous saved off cfg file does not restore the 7800 to the settings in the cfg file? Presumably, something is reinitializing the nvram to the factory default settings during a reboot (shouldn't) , paper clip...

[R7800] Will no longer save settings after reboot.

Perhaps @kamoj knows, I was wondering with Traffic Meter enabled, if there are a huge number of write operations to the nvram? That may affect the useful life of the nvram especially if a particular brand or lot code is not living up to spec. How many of us have had Traffic Meter enabled for a...

[R7800] Will no longer save settings after reboot.

I doubt this is useful info but WTH. I am having a similar issue with my 7800 losing config settings and not being able to restore using a saved config file after a reboot or power cycling. Everything gets reset back to out-of-the-box settings except for 74.4SF. I have to manually enter all...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.75.1SF & v. 1.0.2.75.2SF

I bought my R7800 in December 2018 so it's out of warranty. I did have an issue where the R7800 lost it's contents while under warranty and I called them to report. At that time, they wouldn't replace it. I suppose I could call them and have them look up the prior support ticket and ask for...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

I clarified my prior post. My issues started with 74.4SF. I edited my post to reflect that. Prior to running 74.4SF, I was running 74.1SF successfully.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

Same thing happened to me. I tried to use the NETGEAR_R7800.cfg file after installing 74.4SF but it wouldn't restore my settings. Had to enter them manually. Have another issue where if I have Traffic Meter enabled and DST checked, I get Shields Up All Service Ports errors. Strange.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

I have not touched the 7800 since my last post. The 7800 has maintained it's DFS channel setting since I changed it back from channel 40. We're in corona virus lockdown here in Silicon Valley and I'm somewhat paranoid about messing with my 7800 since it seems stable for the moment. However, I...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

I live in a high rise condo with lots of wifi channels being used by residents. To get around the 5GHz radio congestion, I've been using a DFS channel at 80 MHz bandwidth for quite a while with no issues. Last night, the 7800 switched to channel 40 at 40 MHz bandwidth unbeknownst to me. I just...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

I'm not using your add-on. I posted a link in my previous post that indicates that others have experienced the same issue with DST enabled and Traffic Meter not working, at least with NG firmware. I don't recall this ever being an issue with @Voxel firmware until now (and only my 7800?).

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

@kamoj @Tom_Batty @LeKeiser @microchip @NetBytes I FOUND THE SOLUTION (workaround)! I had to disable (uncheck) "Automatically adjust for daylight savings time" under NTP Settings. See https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Traffic-Meter-not-working/m-p/1534108 Traffic Meter...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.74.4SF

kamoj, I executed via telnet: nvram set nocloud=1 nvram set nokwilt=1 nvram commit nvram set transmission_disable=1 nvram commit and then rebooted the 7800. (I disabled Transmission a month or so ago but I still re-ran the disable command shown above). The NG downloader was already...
