AC68u router reporting wrong WAN IP

Dear SNB Experts, I have discovered I’m facing the same CGNAT issue when I tried to set up an OpenVPN server on a DSL-AC68U at my in-laws’. The router is placed behind an ISPs bridged modem and running the latest @GNUton’s stable firmware. I would like to be able to access it remotely to...

ASUS AC86U 2 DIFFERENT SSIDS ONE WITH VPN (HELP)

I’m not sure if you can achieve this on Asus stock firmware. But this is certainly possible on Merlin (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/about-asuswrt-merlin-custom-firmware-for-asus-routers.7846/) with the YazFi addon (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/yazfi-v4-x.70308/).

    downgraded to 384.19

My setup is also 3 x AC66U_B1 in AiMesh. I moved to 386.1_2 smoothly and painlessly, now it works very reliably for me. Honestly, I cannot imagine downgrading to AiMesh 1.0. Did you try to switch the main router with one of the nodes?

My humble review on Synology RT2600ac

What works for me is the combination of Merlin routers with NextDNS capabilities. It also checks the boxes listed in the first post and fully satisfies my parental (or rather paternal) instincts.

    Blocking YouTube on certain devices

What works for me is actually combination of DNS Filter and NextDNS. I created NextDNS profiles for both of my kids and associated their devices with respective custom DNS addresses. Now turning on and off apps and websites is a breeze + at the same time they are protected by various ad /...

Release [FORK][DSL] GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL Router 386.1_2 released.

I’d love to help, but by both attempts to set up AiMesh I lost access to all ways to connect to my router :-| So I had to factory reset it and all logs were lost. So sorry :-(

Release [FORK][DSL] GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL Router 386.1_2 released.

By the second attempt the issue appeared after adding the second node. I am clear that many alpha- and beta-testers had no problems with AiMesh, so I tend to think it may be faulty hardware of my DSL-AC68U. Anyway, it continues working well as a wireless node with a RT-AC66U_B1 as an AiMesh...

Release [FORK][DSL] GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL Router 386.1_2 released.

Hi @GNUton and All, here is a short recap of my experience: - I dirty-flashed the latest 386.1_2 on my DSL-AC68U on Thursday. I was able to access GUI and SSH into the router immediately, without any interruption. - It worked perfectly in my setup (see my signature - not updated yet) for 2 days...

Release [FORK][DSL] GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL Router 386.1_2 released.

Thanks, @julezman and @Zendilar for your comments. I guess this is the same story as in case of the Merlin main branch: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-386-1-is-now-available.69783/post-657230 I’m mentally prepared for this, will flash the new version through the weekend

Release [FORK][DSL] GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL Router 386.1_2 released.

Thank you, Gnuton! And a quick question: When going from your previous stable build (384.17), will the dirty (direct) upgrade be sufficient, or would you recommend a factory reset following the installation?

Devices connecting to wrong AiMesh-enabled router/node

That’s precisely what I do :-) My routers don’t offer Smart Connect, so different SSIDs per band are a must.

Devices connecting to wrong AiMesh-enabled router/node

In my AiMesh setup (see the signature below), I’m using the following RSSI thresholds for Roaming Assistant: -60 dBm for 5Ghz -55 dBm 2.4Ghz And I’m generally happy with how the laptops and mobile devices roam between the nodes. But definitely don’t take it as a universal reco - as OE pointed...

Has the WPS vulnerability been patched/fixed in Asus AC and AX routers?

No issues with AiProtection so far. Happy with strong

Has the WPS vulnerability been patched/fixed in Asus AC and AX routers?

Just as a side note, Asus themselves indirectly admit that WPS poses a security risk if permanently enabled: Log into your router’s GUI / choose AiProtection menu / turn it on (if it’s off) / click “scan” for automated security assessment. As you can see, WPS is “green” only when disabled: So...

    AiMesh Nodes Not Showing

There is a confirmed issue with AiMesh on ac5300 running 386.1 beta: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-386-1-beta-is-now-available.68205/post-639105

Can't map drive on AC56U in Windows 10 as router is not visible but already mapped drives still work

I would personally flash the @john9527 ’s 374 LTS fork and see if the problem persists: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-lts-overview.67510/ This fork is by far the biggest favor you can do to your router which is supported neither by Asus nor by mainline Merlin...

    RT-AC65P

By the way, the same is true about another Mediatek based model RT-AC85P. On e-paper it looks even more decent than AC65P, but has exactly the same limitations. Moreover, the stock firmware options are more limited than in case of most new Asus routers, even with seemingly poorer hardware specs...

AIMesh support for USB 3.0 hard drive on Mesh Node 1 - Is it possible?

AIMesh support for USB 3.0 hard drive on Mesh Node 1 - Is it possible?

The short answer: it is possible. I have an USB HDD on one of the nodes which I use for automated network backups of my home laptop. It works very reliably for me. As OE mentioned above, this is fairly straightforward with AiMesh 2.0. In the GUI you go to AiMesh / click on the node of your...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Yes, indeed - this merely my humble personal preference  Largely driven by the fact that one of the nodes is located in the kid’s room and the other in the master bedroom. Neither location particularly keen on disco lights late at night and both likely to forget to switch the LEDs manually...
