    SDN is far more complex than justs a guest network. SDN involves the ability to have multiple DNS servers and multiple DoT resolvers running at the same time, for instance, on potentially different VLANs. It can also have dedicated VPN clients and servers attached to individual SDNs.

    The wireless settings storage will definitely not be compatible. Going back to any release older will at the very minimum require a complete factory default reset. Wireless parameters are no stored in the same nvram variables as before.

    I don't know if that's the case here, but there's a good chance that Asus may have put a block in place to prevent downgrades of the GT-BE98/GT-BE98_PRO to below a minimum version due to the availability of idfferent hardware revision where downgrading a newer revision would brick your device.

    At this time It doesn`t. 3006 is largely 3004 but with SDN, which is highly complex and is spread throughout the whole code base. Everything has to be adapted to deal with that, not just guest networks. This leads to new issues being introduced in 3006. For instance, DoT is currently broken...

    Yes. One is stock Asuswrt, and the other is Asuswrt-Merlin with thousands of code changes over the stock one. Bottom line, you cannot compare them.

    Those are all very recent models. There is no reason to believe that Asus aren`t working on them. A large portion of the firmware code is identical through all models, so any work on that will affect every single model.

    There are USB options available. Wifi 7 won`t saturate USB 3, so the bandwidth will be sufficient.

    They both expose a unique SSID, with the router handling band steering. Main difference is MLO can use multiple bands at the same time.
