Is UPnP disabled when you put an ASUS router in Access Point mode?

I'm gearing up to put my AX86U into Access Point mode and installing OPNSense on an old server to act as a firewall/router. Just trying to get ahead of any potential problems and I stumbled across this post on Reddit and that got me wondering.... is UPnP disabled when an ASUS router is switched...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

The days, and the actions I've taken over those days, are starting to blur together :) . But yes, I have done factory resets (with initialization) several times lately. It all comes down to that USB mode option. In 3.0 mode, 50% reduction in upload speeds. In 2.0 mode, full speed. Maybe my...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

I hear ya! Makes no sense at all. Once my account is approved for posting on Asus's site, I'm going to mention it over there.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

My iPerf testing was done every which way but loose. :) LAN<->LAN LAN<->WAN and back again (going out to a friend and from his system back into me..... I'm ssh'd into a system at his house)

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

I've never had a drive plugged into this router (and have no need too) so leaving it in USB 2.0 mode isn't an issue. Just weird that for me, it made a clear difference and is reproducible.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

For me, yes.... if I switch it back to USB 3.0 mode, the upload speed gets cut in half so it's 100% reproducible.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

I think I fixed it? In the most bizarre way imaginable though........... To my friend: ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to x.x.x.x, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.0 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

If I get some spare time, and I'm really bored :) , I'll try different machines. I'm at the point now where I just want to throw my hands up. I've been banging my head against the wall the past few days trying to figure this out and it's getting frustrating. I'm convinced it's the router.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Wasn't using the 2.5Gbe port. Both test units were plugged into the normal LAN ports.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

At the time, no. I re-did the test just now, my kids were rather upset :) ....... but wireless was disabled and nothing plugged in (even tried disconnecting the ONT) and it made no difference.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Not sure why I didn't try that earlier (LAN to LAN iPerf) :) ....... but this is giving me anywhere from 500-730Mbps with both systems hardwired. Maybe I do indeed have a defective router?! (During testing AIProtection, QoS and Traffic Analysis were all turned off.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

In a thread that I referenced earlier, somebody did that and it fixed their problem. All of my testing is being done while hard wired directly into the AX86U. Factory reset with it in normal (router) mode and real world uploads are half of what they should be. Using it in AP mode (dumb switch)...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

When I was doing my router reset, I did it both ways (using the tiny button on the back) and from within the GUI, and picking the 'initialization' option. Both times, as SOON as the router came up, I did not restore the backup file and carried out my FTP, scp, iPerf tests and speed was limited...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Been reading on some other sites about my problems and keep seeing mention of 'NAT acceleration, hardware acceleration, hardware NAT, Cut Through, Flow Acceleration'.... where in the world are these settings? I've combed over all my options and don't see that stuff listed anywhere. My WAN type...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

The server I'm going to use has some 2.5Gbe cards in it. I'm trying to decide between pfSense and OPNSense.

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Whoops, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, if I use -P 4, I do indeed see what I'd expect on the upload side.... 930Mbps. Quick update though...... I borrowed a friends AX92U and was FINALLY able to see full upload speeds!!! Tried iPerf a few times (without the -P switch) and some FTP uploads...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Nope. I've tried iPerf 2.0, iPerf 3 and sender/receiver on Linux, sender/receiver on Windows and sender on Linux, receiver on Windows and vice versa .... makes no difference, I always see the same, 50% reduction in upload speeds when going through the AX86U. Doing all these tests directly...

AX86U and AT&T 1 gig upload speed problem

Noticed that too. When I use parallel streams, I can reach my upload limit (930-950Mbps). So the AX86U can handle that no problem but single streams, not to much. That makes no sense to me.
