I currently own an ASUS AC68 with Merlin firmware, is AC88 the right choice if I want to max out VPN

https://i.imgur.com/1ORcgLZ.png FWIW: RT-AC86U gateway OpenVPN Server router is able to achieve the above throughput for remote OpenVPN clients running under Merlin's latest RT-AC86U_384.6_alpha2-g5b076fc87 test build over the XMission Utopia active ethernet 1Gbps up/down fiber network...

    GT-AC5300 and Comcast Gigabit Internet

FWIW: Believe you should at least be able to reach @700Mbps down with that router as Tim measured for max throughput last year...I don't think you will be able to achieve the full 1Gbps download throughput using this router though...

https://www.dslreports.com/comment/2984/93871 Older review of XMission which is my ISP. AC86U is what functions as my OpenVPN Gateway Server router They now offer 10 Gbps up/down for residential service over Utopia although the price is still way too steep for me!:D

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

188 Mbps = 23.5 MB/s Doing the conversion math, traffic forced thru the OpenVPN tunnel could possibly hit >22MB/s over my AC86U OpenVPN Gateway Server router according to my test across the XMission Utopia fiber network...

Good wireless routing solution for 1Gb internet

Agreed with that much throughput actually renders QoS rather redundant. FWIW: The somewhat-now ancient R7000 flashed w/Shibby's Tomato has no issue reaching my FTTH 1Gbps up/down avail throughput...

"Best" open source firmware for Netgear X10

Has anyone been able to confirm the X10 running DD-WRT gets anywhere close to being able to reach 1Gbps WAN throughput? One of the reasons I've stuck with Shibby's tomato on my gateway R7000 is that it supports CTF to be able to reach close to 1Gbps which I don't think the X1o may be able to...

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

We install gigabits to homes and businesses typically. Larger businesses will get 10 Gig. Some very large connections we support are 100 Gig. In a city like Perry, it's very rural, but they can attract enormous investment from a data center or a large business or an industrial partner or...
