We have it on our laptop and her work phone, it used to work, but recently stopped, we assumed it was the mail server being down one day, so didnt think about but again the next day it didnt work, and the day after that, she asked at work but no...

Need some advice on direction to take.

Yes the house is old, it's 1800s, been adapted and extended on, but the main structure is very thick stone walls... The BT discs are odd things, no routing functions, purely a mesh AP set up, got 6 of them and despite many reports of troubles, mine have been superb since 2015... Only now are...

Need some advice on direction to take.

Yes I do have regular local back ups, and stream media from a jellyfin server to multiple devices locally from my Synology ds920. It's not just wan traffic that I'm trying to maximize but also LAN traffic, since my BT discs have started playing up, I've found if all 3 kids are streaming films to...

Need some advice on direction to take.

That's my worry with powerline adaptors, the house is old, that means damp as no damp proof course, and the electrics are old... Last socket I went into had black and red cables, not even brown and blue lol. The rpi4b is a great powerhouse for a router, but add in the need for a switch, and at...

Need some advice on direction to take.

It's average, the BT disc things use 5ghz backhaul and they cope with it.. unfortunately wired AP isn't possible, rented house and no cavity walls means everything would need to be surface mounted and they wouldn't allow it, which is why I said maybe an AP with a power line adaptor.

Need some advice on direction to take.

Hello everyone, been a while since I visited, but I've returned seeking your wisdom once again. My BT mesh wifi disc setup is starting to become very tired and glitchy, lots of dropped connections, reboots, low speeds and the such, but it's 6 years old and in our house with 3 kids it's served...

    Netgear GS108T vs GS908e

I wondered how you allocate priority to the AP when it has multi use things running on it...

Can someone give me opinions on my suggested home network

I'm on vdsl 80/20 service... So really the switch isn't gonna do anything for me as I'm not lacking Ethernet ports, other than the fact my router can't do link aggregation but my NAS can... If the routers still doing all the QOS and DHCP etc, the switch is basically an added complication with...

Can someone give me opinions on my suggested home network

Hello everyone, sorry for the noob questions, just wondered if you can cast your eyes over my suggested layout and tell me of any pitfalls you see. I plan running, Modem - router - switch- wireless AP With my livingroom tv box, PS4 and Nas via Ethernet into the switch. All the mobile phones...

    Netgear GS108T vs GS908e

Do either of you have a wireless AP connected to the switch??

    Netgear GS108T vs GS908e

Need an switch with link aggregation capabilitys.... Which of these is the better option. One looks fancy, but is cheaper... The other looks more robust and business like??

Should be simple for someone I'm the know-how...

I might go down the switch route too, seems like the GS108T has link aggregation, so is the smallest one I can find... I've done some reading and it's good they offer some control over the devices like QOS etc, the only shame is the switch won't see most devices as they will be running via the...

Should be simple for someone I'm the know-how...

There's never much file downloading etc, just local media streaming... Normally 2 shields watching 1080p films at the same time.... So it might not be much benefit. If it's still a good idea to use a switch I will happily buy one as they only seem to be £50 so not exactly a major spend....

Should be simple for someone I'm the know-how...

Sorry for asking such a silly question, I just can't get my head around the workings of it all... Currently I have a R7800 router, running like Joe public, with all my stuff plugged in the back Ethernet ports. 1) Wireless Mesh Extenders 2) Qnap Nas 3) Shield Tv box 4) Sony PS4 (Running via...
