    What's the EA-N66R?

The specs seem to be identical. I recently returned my EA-N66 and got a second RT-N56U instead.

Restrict guest wireless LAN from accessing router

I thought with a guest LAN you weren't supposed to be able to access the router or be able to access other devices on the LAN? I never tested it out though. EDIT: Crap I just tested it. I figured a guest LAN would be block from accessing the router but it isn't on my RT-N56U router. Crap now I...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Using my Dlink DGL4500 router I never had any issues with the Verizon Femtocell(Extender). And with the RT-N56U router this was the only device out of 60+ I have on my network that had an issue with the custom firmware.(The official firmware had other issues which was initially why I switched to...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Ouch!! I think that rules it out for me. There are too many settings for me to re-enter by hand without taking a long time to do it. Although guess I can give it a quick try just to see if the Femtocell works. Then I can just load the config file back in. Actually, the perfect time for me to...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Just a quick question. The Custom firmware has worked great with all my devices except my Verizon Femtocell(The official ASUS firmware had the same issue). From what I've read it seems that the Asus routers tend to have an issue with the Verizon Femtocell. Even putting them on a DMZ doesn't...

    Routers and firmware

Wireless works fine with streaming BD ISOs if your network is setup properly. A proper network will have more than one AP to make sure you get an excellent signal and not be overstaurate. I have zero difficulty streaming BD ISOs over wireless using Aps and a wireless bridge. Now streaming...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Is there still a 24 device limit? My problem is I have over sixty devices on my network so I have to be stingy with my reservations. I haven't tried with the recent firmware but with the previous one it said the limit was 24. My EA-N66 is the first network device out of hundreds I've used over...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I only just noticed the donate button on the custom firmware website. I just donated a few bucks. Maybe that can help with getting a longer lease time in the firmware.:D Anyway I've been using the last few versions of this custom firmware. It has been much better than the couple of official...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I'll give that a try, thanks. EDIT: the minimum value is 120. It won't let me input anything below 120 or above 604800.

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I noticed the longest DHCP lease time I can select is 7 days. I don't know if this has always been the case. I'm only noticing this recently because my new EA-N66 AP, when it gets a new lease, drops all it's wireless clients and they switch over to my RT-N56.(I'm using 2.4GHz on the Rt-N56u and...

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

WHen I set mine up. I connected a PC to it like it said in the instructions. Whatever that default mode was. Then I changed the settings to make it an AP and the associated settings that an AP needs. Then I disconnected it from my PC and connected it to my network and I could access it without...

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

I got a response back from Asus about putting the EA-N66 in N only mode So hopefully they will fix the issue and put out a new firmware with the fix.

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

Try a different cable. A 1000BT connection uses all four pairs. A 100BT connection uses two pairs. So one of the pairs could also be damaged. Or it is a crappy cable. Either way, try another cable.

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

Yes, all my laptops and Netbooks have an option to make the switching more agressive. This is one of the first options I change when using a laptop. For other devices you don't have this option, but they will also switch to another AP at somepoint depending on the signal strength.

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

I was only using the FiOS Broadband speed test to see the max speeds when I was selecting a 5Ghz channel.. I did not test the sustained throughput over my LAN except when I had the other media bridges connected to the AP. And those sustained speeds were still at least 75Mb/s to my laptop. But...

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

All my devices always connected to the strongest AP initially. I used them for years with dozens of devices. and when the signal strength got low enough to reach a certain threshold, it would pick the signal up on another AP. This was from my Dlink DAP1522 units. There is no need to have control...

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

I think this is some glitch in the firmware. I'm using my EA-N66 with 5Ghz and had the same issue where I could not put it in N only mode. It would always come back in Auto mode which works with A and N. I sent a message to Asus support but I have not received a response yet. Although I did not...

Need Help- N66U with EA66 as Access Point

You can set all the Aps the same. When I had five Aps setup this is what I did, all SSIDs were the same and the devices roamed from AP to AP.

    EA-N66 - What am I doing wrong?!?!?

I have no idea what you could be doing wrong. I had no issues setting up my EA-N66. I just set up my EA-N66 up last night. For me it has worked out great so far. With nothing else connected to it at 5GHz I was able to max out my FiOS 150/65 connection from my laptop with the FiOS Broadband...
