ac66u signal strength and speed weaken over time

I didn't try passive. I've reinstalled Asus 5656, but tomorrow I'll reinstall .42 and try passive scans and report the results here in this thread. It has been 100% repeatable for me with active scans (default).

ac66u signal strength and speed weaken over time

No, it shouldn't. However, the Site Survey process isn't a feature in the stock ASUS firmware, only Merlin's as far as I know. That's were I find the signal strength issue when a Site Survey is performed. The OP's problem is so similar I thought it was worth mentioning.

ac66u signal strength and speed weaken over time

I don’t have an AC66U, I have an RT-AC68U; so this might not be applicable. I’ve never had the issue you’re having on stock ASUS firmware, but I’ve experienced a similar problem on Merlin’s firmware (version .41 and .42). I discovered when I perform a Site Survey, within 30 seconds the 5GHz...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.42_2 is out

I observed the same oddity with .42 as I did with .41; and that is when I perform a Site Survey (active), within 30 seconds 5GHz band signal strength diminishes from -49dBm at my test computer (ASUS PCE-AC68 wireless card) to -59dBm measured by inSSIDer. My first visual indication is the Windows...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5656

I thought the same thing, so just to be sure I cleared my browser (IE11) cache and cookies with ccleaner and immediately connected.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.41 is out

Merlin, I really like your improvements to the Asuswrt firmware; you’ve added some very nice features! I use my ASUS RT-AC68U as a basic router with 4 wired and 8 wireless client devices. I’ve been using stock versions of Asuswrt firmware since I purchased it, but finally decided to try your...

Small net buiders, Asus forums locking up.

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, it appears to me to be caused by one of the pop-up ads that appear once every 24 hours. Unfortunately, I can't identify which one. For me on IE11, clearing my browser's cache doesn't seem to make a difference. I can tell from the non-pop-up...

Small net buiders, Asus forums locking up.

It has been happening to me too; glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this (Windows 7 64 bit, IE11, and ASUS Router & Adapter). It doesn't happen all the time, but when I see that ads aren't loading, especially the ones on the right side of the screen below the Stats, I do a quick...

RT-AC68U doesn't play nice with WiFi or AirPrint printing

I have two Canon AirPrint enabled printers (MG6220 and MG8220) on my network, both connected wirelessly. So far I haven't noticed any issues printing from my iPad. I'm currently using the Beta 4887 firmware, but AirPrint worked fine for me on 4561.

    Beta Version 3.0.0.4.374.4887

I've been using the 4561 firmware because I didn't have the reboot issue that others experienced. I updated to the 4887 version yesterday and noticed that my 5GHz link rate was lower than with the 4561 version. About an hour after I flashed the new firmware I did notice a drastic decrease in...

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

Yep, I completely understand; I'm on day 21 and realize it can happen at any time. I guess this router is a little more tolerant given my particular network configuration, usage, and devices.

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

Just the opposite for me, I kept the ASUS RT-AC68U and sent back the Netgear R7000. I'm using the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.374_4561) and I'm not experiencing any reboot issues, but some folks are. I have a mix of 12 wired and wireless devices connecting to the router, including two Apple...

    Best settings for ASUS AC68

Will your Hard Drives be USB or Ethernet (Gigabit) connections? I have two Western Digital 1TB My Book Live drives connected via Gigabit Ethernet connections to my RT-AC68U; one is strictly for backup and the other functions as DLNA and iTunes servers. From reading the forums, USB might be...

    Rt-ac68u + pce-ac68

I purchased the ASUS RT-AC68U and PCE-AC68 together, but initially installed only the RT-AC68U and tested it with my established home network. After it appeared to work properly, I replaced the Dell wireless adapter in my Dell XPS-9100 desktop with the PCE-AC68. With the Router’s original...

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

Today my RT-AC68U rebooted. I installed the Router on 2/8/2014, but I haven’t really paid attention to the reboot issue until I started reading this thread. I updated to the 3.0.0.4.374.4561 Firmware on 2/21/2014 and started looking at the System Log at that time to see if the “Up Time” ever...
