Solved Access Point 1/3 The Speed of Main Router

You are right. I looked at the ethernet ports on the ASUS Admin browser app and saw the port for the AIMesh node was 100Mbps. I swapped it into an adjacent port that was running at 1Gbps. That port then showed as 100Mbps. The cable is Cat5e. I did some searches on this site and read sometimes...

Solved Access Point 1/3 The Speed of Main Router

I have an Asus RT-AC88U as my main router and a RT-AC3100 as the secondary router. They are connected via ethernet backhaul. The Wi-Fi speeds at the main router are 350 to 370 Mbps. The secondary router Wi-Fi speed is 95 Mbps whether it is configured in AP Mode or AIMesh. Shouldn't both routers...

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

You are correct. You didn't mention "window". That was my term. Your point about the security risks of old firmware was received and understood. What about the 3.0.0.4.386.48260 firmware from 3/25/22 that I am running? Assuming that is the last firmware update for my router, is the router...

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

Yes, I am using ports 5 - 8. Is your advice not to use them a general rule of thumb if a router has more than the typical 4 LAN ports? I have used a switch in the past to get more LAN ports. I got the 8 port router to eliminate the switch. There were no performance problems using the switch. I...

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

The firmware I am running on the RT-AC88 ,(3.0.0.4.386.4826041), was released on 3/25/22, so that falls in the 2 year window you had mentioned. I put the RT-AC88 in service in Jan. 2017. A quick web search for "when to replace a Wi-Fi router" seems to come back with an "every 5 years" rule of...

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

"Running on >2 years old firmware is not the solution." Security implications?

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

Thanks for the information. I read your thread. That is something I can try this weekend when it is not as much of an interruption to have the Wi-Fi down.

    Asus RT-AC88U Keeps Losing Wireless

Within the last two weeks, the wireless radio in my Asus RT-AC88U intermittently stops working. The equipment connected via ethernet to the router still have the internet, but the wireless signal is no longer there. A reboot of the router restores the wireless. The past two days I have had to...

    Question About RT-RC88U Log File

I sent the log to Asus and got no useful information, other than the advice to return the router if the log file makes me uncomfortable. Here are my questions: What does the log file indicate? Is there a way for me to ensure the router is stock and not modified in some way?

    Question About RT-RC88U Log File

I purchased a used RT-RC88U router and am running firmware version:3.0.0.4.380_3941 The log file contains some entries from the previous user. Can anyone interpret what the July 31 and August 1 log file entries mean? It looks like the router has been flashed, or some other non-typical stuff...
