Using 2 different VPN configs and providers

I have to say, I have no idea about that setting, I have never touched it. I have now enabled it but still no success. Its strange that it was working fine before I added the other VPN. When I try to start the PIA vpn now I get this in the log: Apr 9 09:57:28 rc_service: httpd 559:notify_rc...

Using 2 different VPN configs and providers

I have a RT5300 running Merlin 380.65.4 I had set up a vpn connection with PIA using these settings: https://helpdesk.privateinternetaccess.com/hc/en-us/articles/227852327-Setting-up-an-Asus-Router-running-Merlin-Firmware Everything was running ok. Then I entered another VPN providers config...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

Hi, I updated to 380.65 for my AC5300, everything works ok, no different workload or connections, but I notice the CPU runs 5 degrees hotter than before. I have it sat on a laptop cooler 24/7 , normally it sits at 48-50 degrees but since the update its at 55-58 degrees. Not so much an issue...

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

I just thought I would quickly update. Maybe I made a school boy error by not doing this in the first place, but I reset my network services on my pc on the cmd prompt and everything seems to have sorted themselves out. I have been running speed tests and swapping between 2.4 and 5ghz and all...

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

It actually looks like this is the same with me. I have turned off all my WiFi devices except for the pc and it has appeared again. So if it is that, a restore isn't going to do much. Anyway I'll give it ago.

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

Hmm lol I just bought a smart TV the same day I got the router. And it wasn't plugged in when I was using the 87u. I will turn WiFi off the TV and test again. Before more drastic measures

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

No I started from scratch. In a last ditch effort I will try to sort it again today. I just need to be clear on a few things. 1. When I restore to factory settings do I need to clear nvram? If so what is the sure way to do it on these boxes? 2. I've always used Merlin firmware and never had an...

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

What's annoying, is that the unidentified wireless device must have been there 2 days ago when i had the 87u connected on the same channels and there was no issue. Previously I was getting 72/18 and now I'm lucky to get 30/5 on an 80/20 FTTC connection. If I change to DFS channels I can't even...

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

Well i changed to all available channels the unknown AP didnt follow me to and I was lucky to open a web page. No other interference on inssider. Looks like I'll sell it and change brand, and hopefully get some proper firmware support. Never used smart connect or QOS btw. Even upgraded to the...

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

Ive found some hidden APs always switching their channels to the same one i use despite other channels being free(mac address corresponds to some other AP manufacturer that i dont use). This is happening to me on one of the 5ghz bands, no matter what i change to it follows me?

RT-AC5300 is the worst router ever

OMG, days i have spent messing with this router, and I can come up with only one conclusion that it is not fit for purpose. My 87u works like a treat out of the box with Asus or Merlin firmware. This one with same settings in same location and the wireless is spiking up and down with about half...

    RT-AC5300 2nd 5ghz channel not available

Well I just replaced my Asus PCE-AC68 card with the newer AC88 one and it picks up the 100+ channels fine. Both bought from the same place o_O

    RT-AC5300 2nd 5ghz channel not available

Yes all equipment from uk. The router was a prize from a large uk retailer. The strange thing is 5ghz-1 is normal channels @ 20mhz 36-64 however 5ghz-2 is 100-140. I imported a Moto droid turbo from USA a while ago and tested it and it see's the 5ghz-2 band.

    RT-AC5300 2nd 5ghz channel not available

I just set up my 5300, everything is fine and working as it should. But I cannot use the 2nd 5ghz band as the channels available start at 100 up to a maximum of 140 @ 20mhz, 100-136 @40mhz. As I am in UK most of my stuff doesnt see those bands and my AC68-PCE card in my PC doesnt. I have tried...

Which one to use as AP?

Thanks, yes I didn't realise how expensive it was until I googled :). At the moment I only have a set of TP-LINK TL-PA8030P AV1200 powerlines to connect them as a direct cable is too much work to pass through walls ect. I will upgrade to AV2000 to get the best from everything.
