    according to the ASUS website, the latest firmware release was done in 2017/02/14. Does the stable version you're using predate the incorporation of that update into the Merlin release?

    I talked too soon: with the original ASUS firmware I'm also losing 5Ghz... you mentioned that all the current versions have this issue, do you also refer to the original asus firmware?

    Hi, I am wondering if you may have any advice about cameras that worked in a similar manner as what the old (and infamous!) iZon cameras used to work, that is, accessible online from anywhere and being able to give motion alerts and record that motion. Thanks so much in advance!

    I have had the same problem with a RT-AC3100 I just acquired. After flashing to 80.65_4 5Ghz was lost after a couple of hours working. I reflashed to the original ASUS firmware and works like a charm. Is this a known issue of the current version?

    I was actually thinking RT-AC3100. I don't really need the 8 LAN ports and the AC88U seems awfully difficult to find here in Canada (not sure why!). Are there any other differences between teh models other than the extra LAN ports?

    Does that mean that there are new asus routers in the works appearing soon? perhaps something to consider before making a decision myself... will they be in the same league as the AC-3100? also, where can I find info about these new models? don't seem to be able to find it anywhere

However what I saw was all very vague and my understanding was that most problems were fixed in some driver upgrade? is that not the case...
