Powering a 19V Asus Router with a USB-PD laptop Cord?

Curious to see if this would work. USB-PD apparently has a mode that can deliver 20 Volts, and they sell a cable that adapts USB-C to DC Barrel Jack "for asus laptops". https://www.newegg.ca/p/1VJ-00P0-00018 (this one is 4.0x1.35mm , not sure what size Asus routers use now)...

FlexQoS FlexQoS 1.2.4 - Flexible QoS Enhancement Script for Adaptive QoS

Very interesting initiative. Is there any interest in being able to classify groups of cloud-maintained ip addresses (ipset?) ? Dumping Steam CDN (downloads) and WIndows update servers into a lower tier to punish their horrid ingress breaking protocols would be great

List of Semi-Competant USB WiFi Adapters Thread

There seems to be a lack of high-quality USB WiFi adapters in the marketplace. Concepts like "current gen" ,"2x2" , "brand name" , "RF Testing" seem to be compeltely absent 90% of the time. Then I see threads on other communities like Coreelec , desperately looking for a USB device that offers a...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

How does ASUSWrt manage ingress limits? Tomato uses IFB to create a reverse Queue on the download side of things to ensure the ingress limits are respected. Hoe does the ASUSWrt implimentation differ?

Internet Access for the Router/Entware in "AP" mode?

I figured it out! Step 1 Set a static route to tell the router where to go (my Main router is 192.168.7.1) Step 2 add dnsmasq custom configuration for a DNS server of your choice cat /jffs/configs/dnsmasq.conf.add server=192.168.7.1

Internet Access for the Router/Entware in "AP" mode?

If I had a 2nd ISP I could do this easily, the problem is I can't set my WAN on the same IP subnet as my LAN the way I'd want to.

Adaptive and traditional QoS real disaster

If you have fq_codel or SFQ in your router, you basically have smartqueue. QoS is not easy to configure, and often is not the root cause of the lag. QoS only helps if your latency problems get worse when you're downloading/uploading something. QoS does not help with many other factors...

Adaptive and traditional QoS real disaster

There are many factors that could be causing a game performance problem... is QoS even possible with Dual WAN? Traditional QoS should not impair performance, Adaptive QoS is more of a Black Box that can do anything.

Internet Access for the Router/Entware in "AP" mode?

I'm debating between the official "AP" mode and the DIY mode, (disabling DHCP and NAT, making a LAN-LAN wired connection, leaving WAN port vacant). After years of using AP mode I'm giving DIY mode a try, but I can't figure out how to give the router internet access for its internal use (e.g...

    QoS - Traditional - user-defined priorities

@ApexRon The question is... does it matter in benchmarks? I've never has the pleasure of using equipment that has CoS ... - however if there's always "space" on the wire (created by the queuing / bucket logic and taking some bandwidth off the table), and you can always sent your VoIP packets...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Hi everyone, Wondering about this script, I'm not a developer but I notice there's no "IFB" mentionned anywhere. Does that mean there's no ingress borrowing? E.g. if you set a download ceiling of 80% for 2 different classes, they can both try to use "160%" of the available bandwith? I might...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 Beta is now available

Hi Merlin, Just trying to wrap my head around QoS differences between versions/architectures. I'm usually a Tomato user, I'm following (from afar ) the progression of the QoS systems. 1. Has fq_codel been added to MIPS? I thought it was for ARM only... are their seperate changelogs for...

Recommend a Wireless Router For a Busy Family

again, I'd love to see an example of an application, even UDP, that will keep pushing packets even when you drop a bunch of them. If your router's QoS decides that certain traffic is particularly undesirable, it will drop, 10%, 20%, 30%, 80% , 99% of its traffic. (not talking about stock...

Recommend a Wireless Router For a Busy Family

This is a misconception. There exist inbound queuing mechanisms that do actually work, and pretty well I might add. I don't know how long these have been around or how much acceptance they've gained, but they work really well on the latest versions of Tomato. When you drop the heck out of...

Recommend a Wireless Router For a Busy Family

It's probably enough. I'd wager most people do upload-only QoS anyway and don't have many problems. I haven't actually tried Tomato on the ARM routers, so this is just based on my experience using the MIPS ones. It's very effective at pushing important traffic to the top while allowing great...

Recommend a Wireless Router For a Busy Family

My first real post here. If QoS is a priority, the only thing I can suggest is Tomato Shibby with my patented screenshot settings. Have yet to see anyone else put out a guide that is coherent for the recent builds. If you want downstream QoS to work, this means getting an older MIPS router like...

3x3 Laptop WiFi Card with 2x2 Antenna?

Hi, I bought a intel Centrino ultimate N 6300 Card for my Sony laptop, but the sony laptop only has 2 antenna connectors. I left the middle one empty on the Intel 6300 card. Is this the best one to leave empty? What are the consequences of this?

    External Antenna for RT-N66U

Hi, My antennas (antennae) are broken and I'm looking for a replacement ... stock would be fine, but NFI where to buy those (ebay seems fake). What's a good aftermarket antenna that will give me at least the same performance? EDIT: Oops, should have read the middle of the thread :) page 6
