    XT8 and 2.5gbe setup

I don't think you have so large files on your phone that a few seconds more for the transfer to NAS at 1 Gbps compared to 2.5 Gbps is worth all the update. Consider also that the wifi transfer speed (phone from/to router), even using wifi 6 AX at 160 MHz bandwith, can't reach 2.5 Gbps effective...

Shellies dropping connection in asus aimesh network

Months ago I resorted to adopt the following changes: a) all my XT8s (in AP mode) are running 42095 firmware version b) replaced 90% of my Gen1 Shellyes with the corresponding Gen2 models (except for Gen2 dimmers still not released). Gen2 devices are wifi rock solid, only the new communication...

    XT8 and 2.5gbe setup

Clearly there shouldn't be problems to get to your NAS at full 2.5 Gbps speed from the directly connected wired PCs through the new switch. Conversely, your XD4s haven't 2.5 LAN ports (both for backhaul and client PCs), so there shouldn't be any advantage of buying an XT12 and use its 2.5 LAN...

Cheap Huawei AX3 router vs RT-AX86U personal experience

Actually looking for security at the router level is practically a myth if one has also lot of IoT devices (mostly Chinese products) which use Chinese cloud services... so why worry?...;) The true security is possible only if running all IoT devices locally, no cloud services.

The Asus ZenWiFi AX XT8 is a POS, right?

I'd only wish that Gnuton had released a 42095-based version of his firmware, because his XT8 firmwares suffer of the same problems as the subsequent Asus official releases, at least in my case. So I can't use Gnutons's...:(

XT8 not able to find or factory reset

I tested all the XT8 Asus firmware versions up to the 388 branch, and also the Gnuton's 386.08_0-gnuton1. Unfortunately all the versions released after the 3.0.0.4.386_42095 have significant problems with backhaul and IoT, at least in my installation. I'm running the XT8 mesh in AP mode, behind...

ASUS ZenWifi AX XT8 - 2.4GHz Band Issue

Many IoT devices are based on the same esp8266 chip, so even if the hardware is the same I found (among my 70 wifi IoT devices) that some work perfectly (ex. Sonoff), others have problems with XT8s (specifically Shelly Gen1 devices). And if my XT8s are running the most recent Asus "386"...

    Asus ZenWifi XT8 2.5gb BackHaul cat6 link

Well, in my case there is a reason to use a 2.5 Gbps wired backhaul, even if not having a so fast internet connection. I have a couple of NAS and all PCs/servers with 2.5 ethernet cards located on different house floors. XT8s are in AP mode. Using the XT8 WAN ports at 2.5 Gbps and some 2.5...

Asus XT8 or 9 WiFi name setup

With the XT8, if somebody wishes to connect at 160MHz bandwidth, it's possible to connect a device also to the 5GHz-2 wireless network even if it's used for backhaul, like I do with my Ultrabook with an Intel AX201 160 MHz wifi network card (5GHz-2 backhaul operating on Control channel: 100 and...

XT8 not able to find or factory reset

Last try: set your PC network settings to use a DHCP assigned IP. Connect the PC directly to a LAN port of the XT8 and check if your PC is being assigned an IP.

XT8 not able to find or factory reset

Did you assigned a fixed IP address (like for example 192.168.50.2/255.255.255.0) to your PC before starting to ping the IP address 192.168.50.1 through the direct cable connection to the XT8?
  12. K

XT8 not able to find or factory reset

Did you try if you're able to connect to the XT8 using one of the LAN ports (not the WAN). First test a direct connection with the default XT8 IP (192.168.50.1/255.255.255.0) and your PC configured with an IP in the same subnet. If no success, connect the XT8 LAN port to your local LAN and check...

At my wits end (XT8 Mesh)

I have 6 XT8's and in 2 years I tested almost all firmwares up to the latest 3.0.0.4.388.21617 released for hardware v.1 (mine XT8's version). The only firmware I found pretty stable is 3.0.0.4.386_42095 (FW_ZENWIFI_XT8_300438642095.zip) I'm running that firmware for over a month without...

    Lost my third "5.2GHz" Band

Can you find a configuration option in your main router AiMesh/System settings to use only the Ethernet backhaul mode?

Asus XT8 mixing wired and wireless backhaul

I get a 2.4 Gbps wifi link speed (reported by the wifi driver) when connected to my XT8 5GHz-2 network from my ultrabook with Intel 160MHz capable wifi card. I use channel 100 which IMHO is the only one that can support 160MHz bandwidth, at least I have deducted that from the 5GHz spectrum...

Asus XT8 mixing wired and wireless backhaul

How did you measure the transfer speed? And the XT8 5GHz-2 you connect to is the router or the wired node ?

Asus XT8 mixing wired and wireless backhaul

You can connect devices too to the 5GHz-2 wifi even if used as backhaul. In my case I connect a Huawei Intel 11th generation ultrabook provided with an Intel 160MHz wireless card and the connected speed indicated in the card status is 2.4 Gbits.:)

Zenwifi XT8 - can node use the WAN port for LAN?

I've good news for you...:) I've tested one of my XT8 nodes (connected via wireless backhaul) so to use the WAN (blue) port to connect to a 2.5GB switch to which one PC desktop is connected by cat6 2.5GB ethernet. And it works! And the switch show a 2.5GB connection! Sorry, I too didn't know...

Zenwifi XT8 - can node use the WAN port for LAN?

No, it can't. But if you need more ports you could simply buy a GB switch that is pretty cheap.

Anyone here using a Draytek router with a Dual WAN?

I own a Draytek Vigor 3910 multiwan router/firewall with 2 WANs (in load balancing configuration) and a 3rd WAN (on a mobile network) for failover. Pretty good device, completely configurable, but it's not cheap...
