    XT8 AiMesh System Crashing

I've 6 XT8s in AP mode, and tested almost all the firmware releases up to the latest beta available. IoT devices stability has shown many troubles with all the firmware I tested, along with backhaul instability. Overall, at the end I choose to install the firmware that in my experience has...

    XT8 AiMesh System Crashing

I had some experience with RT-AX86U as main router and AiMesh with XT8's. Specifically, if somebody is using a wireless backhaul, then the RT-AX86U as default reserves the 5GHz-2 band for backhaul, but its 5GHz-1 band doesn't support AX standard (wifi6). Only the 5GHz-2 is AX. So he can't...

XT8 AiMesh: disabling 5GHz-2 on some ethernet nodes

Yes, four levels, large concrete building, no 5GHz-1 wifi passing adequately across the thick floors.

XT8 AiMesh: disabling 5GHz-2 on some ethernet nodes

Hi, I have an XT8 only AiMesh (AP Mode) with 1 main unit and 5 nodes. Some nodes have an ethernet backhaul and shouldn't have to receive backhaul connections from other nodes. Do you think it's possible in these nodes to disable the 5GHz-2 band or they are anyway used as 5GHz-2 passive...

    XT8 Hardwired Backhaul issues

Unmanaged switches are ok but they should support also IGMP Snooping. Only few are compatible.

    XT8 with 1gb fiber issues

What should be the benefit of having clients connecting to the node using a 5GHz 4x4 160MHz ax wifi link with up to 1800/+ Mbps while having a powerline backhaul of up to 1000 Mbps? A 5GHz 2x2 80MHz ax wifi has a link rate of up to 1200 Mbps which is better than every powerline. The same...

    AIMesh mixing dual-band and tri-band

XT8's 5GHz-1 (2x2) band can be disabled in the settings individually for each node (like all the other bands), Stock XT8 Asus firmware allows AiMesh wifi clients to be binded to specific nodes.

    AX88U and XT8 mesh stays on 2.4ghz : (

    XT8 and RT-AX88U have a different wifi specs: XT8 is a tri-band with a 5GHz-1 2x2 and a 5GHz-2 4x4 RT-AX88U is a dual-band with only one 5GHz 4x4 When you connect an RT-AX88U as an AiMesh node to an XT8 (main), the backhaul is likely established between the XT8 5GHz-2 and the RT-AX88U 5GHz. In...

    Aimesh with two SSIDs?

Triband routers sometimes are not as expected. I tried to add an RT-AX92U as a node to my XT8 AiMesh just to discover that on that router the AX mode is available only on the 5GHz-2 band that is allocated to the backhaul, so all my wifi-6 clients could connect only to the 5GHz-1 band with AC...

Solved ZenWifi AX XT8 Ethernet Backhaul does not work for Guest Network

Check in settings if your mobile devices which connect to the guest network are using random MAC addresses. If so select to use the device MAC address. Continuosly changing the MAC might cause the router to run out of DHCP addresses. Moreover this could confuse an active switch.

    RT-AX53U

IMHO RT-AX53U is poor as a wireless AiMesh node. I bought one but with my XT8 AiMesh system I got only 866 Mbps backhaul speed, not 1.2 Gbps as from spec, where my Asus AX-56 USB wifi-6 dongle in the same location reaches 1.2. Maybe better use it as a wired node. I sent it back for an...

Shellies dropping connection in asus aimesh network

I have a similar situation in my house with more than 50 shellies and many other wifi IoT devices (Tuya, Sonoff, Emylo, etc.), all based on ESP8266. And I too have an Asus Wifi mesh (5 XT8s). All shellies have a fixed IP and use CoIoT unicast with Home Assistant. I don't use the shelly app...

    XT8 160 control channel on 5g2

You might have radar interference near you that prevents DFS channels to be selected and 160 MHz channel width to be used.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

I'm actually referring to the old v. 42095 firmware file, the one that apparently is the most reliable XT8 firmware till today.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

I noticed that there are 2 different 42095 firmware files: the original one downloaded from Asus web site just the day it was released, which has the file name ZENWIFI_XT8_3.0.0.4_386_42095-gcd938f7_cferom_pureubi.w with filedate February 13 2021 and the currently downloadable file from the...

Should ethernet ports on xt8 work on node in AP mode with wireless backhaul?

No problems for me with a webcam connected via cable to an XT8 satellite using a wireless backhaul.

    XT8 firmware 45879

Maybe Asus has discovered bugs or serious vulnerabilities that we don't know yet. Clearly it's not only a broken link, as that new version has disappeared everywhere in the Asus site, the Router app and the XT8 GUI. If I had upgraded to that version, now I'd restore the previous version waiting...

    XT8 firmware 45879

Currently it's no longer shown in the Asus download page, so likely it's not only a problem of a broken download link, but IMHO just a pulled bugged firmware. Otherwise Asus had simply and easily corrected the missing link.

    XT8 constant disconnects

I had the same problems with my 2.4 GHz IoT devices (mainly ESP-based), more than 50. After tons of tests I found the solution, at least in my case: Beacon interval: 1000 DTIM interval: 1 Save and reboot. Too frequent beacons cause freezing of many cheap wifi chipsets.
