    Smart (?) Connect

I just tried a quick experiment to test "Smart Connect", using the default settings, but it seems it wasn't so smart after all. To elaborate, I have two Amazon Fire TV Sticks, one in the master bedroom, directly opposite the router with no objects in between and the other in the lounge...

    Smart Connect

...stay with the 2,4 GHz, but would like all of our phones to be able to switch freely between 2,4 and 5 GHz. Is this possible with Asus Smart Connect or is it better to keep the network separated? If the bands are separated with different SSID and our phones have both 2,4 and 5 GHz saved, can...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

How do I disable smart connect on RT-BE86U? Having trouble to get my Nedis Smartlife smoke detectors to connect to the new network... Contacted Nedis Technical support and got a reply that Asus routers have had a problem as smart connect tries to force to 5GHz and then dropping as doesn't...

Just curious about Smart Connect - does it cause interruptions

I'm not intending to switch on Smart Connect, but I'm just curious to know if it causes any loss of service, however brief, when a network device is bumped onto the alternate Wi-Fi band, or is it completely seamless?

Asus Smart Connect switch dont work

I bought a modern Asus router (dx6) with last update. What could be the problem that Smart Connect doesn't switch from 2.4 to 5 GHz? My phone supports it, and with a router from another brand with mix-connect, it works fine. I am attaching screenshoot the Smart Connect rules and settings, they...

Smart connect rules, leave at defaults?

Hello! I have an GT-AX6000 and I was thinking of enabling Smart Connect. I am getting tired of having 2 separate SSID, one for 2.5 and one for 5. The rules that come by default with Smart Connect, are they good enough for most uses? Thanks! urban

    Smart (?) Connect

You are not missing anything. Do a Asus/Asus-Merlin subforum search for smart connect and you'll find quite a few have found it not to be very smart. Lots of past discussion on smart connect: https://www.snbforums.com/search/1323826/?q=smart+connect&o=relevance

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

...have seen other threads I've started. I am planning to setup VLANs but at this point everything is connected to a single SSID using Smart Connect, so bear with me as this is a vanilla configuration. Have not changed the Smart Connect rule and the channel settings are all set to auto...

Geolocalized Apps on LG Smart TV

I have an LG Smart TV and I would like to install geoblocked apps and view geolocalized content (Italian). I set a VPN server using an Asus AX88U in Italy (with OpenVPN but this can be changed). How can I connect the TV only to the VPN server? The point is that I don't want to filter the whole...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

...same SSID for your primary network (all bands), but different SSIDs for say a Guest (or IoT VLAN) for 2.4Ghz and 5GHZ bands? Will Smart Connect work for the Primary SSID and not for the Guest/IoT or will Smart Connect (now) not work AT ALL because of the separate Guest/IoT SSIDs; or did...

    Smart Connect

If a 2.4 only client with no 5.0 radio (it can't 'see' a 5.0 SSID!) is 'confused' and disconnects when using Smart Connect/same SSIDs, your only options may be to wire it or disabled SC, use different SSIDs, and only connect that client to the 2.4 band/SSID. If this doesn't stop the...

    AX86U Smart Connect

Hey I'm on the latest Merlin firmware, but my smart connect (2.5/5) experience is not so good. When I move around in the house, my Oppo Find X5 says I get disconnected from the internet. Disable/Enable WIFI on my phone does recover the issue; if not, I need to disable/enable WIFI again. I did...

Solved 2,4G gone after changing SSID from default one

@Milan, check if Smart Connect is enabled under Wireless > General. Typically when Smart Connect is enabled it creates a single SSID for the WiFi. Post screen shots of what you are seeing so others can see what you see to provide additional context. Include screen shots of your wireless...

    Asus Zenwifi BT10

    Smart Connect

IMHO the best option is to use separate SSIDs for each band. much less complicated and truthfully smart connect (as you've seen) isn't very smart.
