    Asustor 5104 vs Synology 415+

The Asustor was also on my short list, however, upon playing with the user interface and looking at the overall picture other than just hardware, it quickly fell off my short list. I'd recommend QNAP over Synology, but that's just my opinion. QNAP offers more for the buck and has the...

How To Buy A NAS: 2015 Edition

Thanks guys. I've narrowed it down to the TVS-471 (i3) and the TVS-671 (i3) or the (i5) Quad Core. I know the (i5) runs ~$1600, but that's okay. I'm liking the idea of having extra bays and with a Quad Core for my use. 10+ users with a lot of simultaneous streaming. ps....the used car...

The BEST 4-Bay QNAP for ~$1000 price range? TVS-471 the Top Pick? -OR- Jump to the 6-Bay TVS-671?

Update: Long story short, I went for the QNAP TVS-671 and the TVS-871 for many reasons. The Asustor should have never been on the short list. The TVS-471 is still the best buy in its class, but I needed more power. I'm now a happy owner of a TVS-671 Quad Core i7 powered NAS with 16GB of RAM...

TVS AMD based NAS and thoughts?

AMD is a budget CPU for the budget minded who can afford to handle the budget reality that comes with justifying the purchase in the first place. - No matter how much one psychs themselves out, Intel is far superior and that's not an opinion. Facts are facts, numbers are numbers, and results are...

How To Buy A NAS: 2015 Edition

This brings up a great point. What are your thoughts on the Asustor AS7004T NAS? The specs are beefy and from what I've seen they seem to be the best bank for buck. Intel Dual Core i3 running at 3.5GHz and expandable to 16GB. The only other NAS that can touch the Asustor AS7004T seems to be...

    QNAP TVS-471 [Intel i3 3.5GHz] vs Asustor (AS7004T) [Intel i3 3.5GHz]

Indeed. I have the WD DL4100 now and it does well for what I need it to. However, instead of buying another one of the same kind, I've been considering the Asustor (although double the price) in order to future proof it a little. - I would not recommend the Asustor if it's on your short list. Do...

    QNAP TVS-471 [Intel i3 3.5GHz] vs Asustor (AS7004T) [Intel i3 3.5GHz]

Update: Despite the lack up support on this thread, I've received enough input elsewhere to make a final decision. The verdict is that Asustor is out of the picture for many reasons that I've discovered. Instead of a 4-Bay, I went ahead and jumped up to a 6-Bay for a lot of reasons. (Story for...
