General question re. wifi devices disconnecting and reconnecting

The ground floor is approx 650 sq feet, and the upper two floors are approx 450 sq feet. I'd like a little more control over the AP's - ideally to be able to: - direct/force specific clients to connect to a specific AP (I believe that this is possible with some of the Deco models?) - restart...

General question re. wifi devices disconnecting and reconnecting

The house is a 3-storey brick-built townhouse (1970s build) with insulated cavity walls. The router and primary mesh disk is in the study - middle of the ground floor. The 2nd disc is at the back of the ground floor, mainly to provide coverage for the garden, The 3rd disc is on the 1st floor, on...

General question re. wifi devices disconnecting and reconnecting

Thanks for the feedback. I have the original version of the BT Whole Home Wifi discs. There is no indication of a limit to the number of clients per access point. There is also no per-disc configuration of channel number or signal strength. The only per-disc configuration option is the name of...

General question re. wifi devices disconnecting and reconnecting

I've tried a different channel, having used a wifi analyser on my phone to avoid the most congested ones. By "dropping off", I mean devices losing their connection to the wireless network and hence the LAN. I suppose I can understand interference, cabling and hardware causing potential...

General question re. wifi devices disconnecting and reconnecting

For many years I've had a problem with wifi devices dropping off the network and being unable to reconnect without me rebooting either the router or the mesh network. I have 40-50 devices connected to the wireless network at any one time. Some of the devices in question have static IP addresses...

Connectivity issues with BT Whole Home Wifi mesh network

Thanks for your reply. I eventually changed to a fixed channel (11, I think), and have not had the problem for a while. So maybe a new external network had been causing interference.

Connectivity issues with BT Whole Home Wifi mesh network

Sadly that's not an option, as they're way outside warranty

Connectivity issues with BT Whole Home Wifi mesh network

I have a BT Whole Home Wifi mesh network with 4 discs, in various locations of a 3-storey townhouse. All of the discs are connected to the main switch via ethernet. I am running software version 1.02.13 build07 Recently I have found that devices in one area of the house (in and around the...

    RT-AC68U

I decided to give up trying it, after several attempts. I got my hands on a second-hand Netgear R7800 today and it's resolved the problems. Thanks for all the feedback.

    RT-AC68U

It didn't as far as I know - it just displayed the Applying Cnanges message for 40 minutes before I refreshed the browser to get rid of it

    RT-AC68U

Yes I ticked the "initialise all settings" checkbox, then clicked Restore. Does that fact that it was taking so long to respond indicate a problem? (i.e. >2 minutes to respond to pretty much any request)

    RT-AC68U

OK I followed the instructions at that link to do a reset /initialise. When the router booted up after the reset I was taken to the "Welcome to RT-AC-AC68U" screen, with "Create a new network" and "Advanced Settings" options. I was expecting to see some sort of setup wizard. Anyway I followed...

    RT-AC68U

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just upgraded to 386.3_2. Unfortunately the same problems still seem to be there. I can still connect nothing to either of the two wifi connections.

    RT-AC68U

I have an Asus RT-AC68U which was unplugged for a few hours yesterday. When I reconnected it, I started having the following problems: - No devices (e.g. laptops and Android devices) are able to connect to wireless on the Asus (on 2.4 and 5GHz bands). On Windows 10 I get "Can't connect to this...

Cannot access asus router admin page but have full wired internet connection?

Funny you should say that - the last time I upgraded I did just that. It didn't take long for the problem to reappear

Cannot access asus router admin page but have full wired internet connection?

I've had this problem for years with my RT-AC68U, but it just seems to have got worse. Up to now, a power cycle has always restored the GUI (I could very rarely SSH into it when I lost access to the GUI). Now, even after a power cycle, it sometimes hangs after I submit the login page. I've tried...

"Firmware upgrade unsuccessful" trying to upgrade RT-AC68U

I have an Asus RT-AC68U running Asuswrt-Merlin v384.2.2. I have downloaded version 384.18_0 from Sourceforge but when I attempt the update I get this error: "Firmware upgrade unsuccessful. This may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try...

Trying to connect Virgin Media Hub (modem mode) to Edimax dual wan router

Thanks for the info. It is indeed an old, low spec, dual-WAN router! I discovered that the problem was with the Virgin hub - after half an hour on the phone to Virgin support they finally suggested a hardware reset of the Hub and it fixed the problem. Incidentally the router is connected to LAN...
