    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

IDK about that....I don't even know how to use those scripts or change things on the Asus on a code level. I may be blind, but I can't seem to find the CLI button or option to mess with all that.....I swear I seen it at some point, buried in some setting page, though I would thing it would be...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

I am still bugged that my 86U cant do more than ~20-35MB's transferring files from my LAN computer Windows SNB shares over 5ghz now that it is in AP mode and connected to my switch. Something is odd. My laptop a Dell Precision 5510 and Intel AC8260 2x2 card should do better than that and was...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

So...I ended up getting a deal on a ER-4. Don't need the switch on the ER-12 anymore since I now have an Asus XG-U2008 unmanaged switch that has 2 10G ports and 8 1G ports, so all my wired devices are hooked up to that now. Having enabled HWoffload for everything, and having DPI enabled....the...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

They have announced planed update if they reach their stretch goal: A few quick notes: - This change will cost us more on the materials side of things but our team is going to eat the full cost of this upgrade. - We need your patience, as this upgrade will add 3-4 weeks of production time to...

AC86U as AP, and Ubquiti ER-4 LAN issues

FIGURED it out! Connected the cable from Switch to a switch port on the Router....not the WAN port. Now everything is working fine. Well, WLAN transfers are not as fast as they once were though, download to wifi client seems capped at 35MBs and upload to a LAN client is about 50MB's. I was...

AC86U as AP, and Ubquiti ER-4 LAN issues

Something is definitely weird using wifi. I can connect via wired cable from laptop to the switch ports on the back of the Asus router and everything works fine. So what in the wifi setup would be causing this?

AC86U as AP, and Ubquiti ER-4 LAN issues

I just got a Ubiquiti ER-4 setup as my main router. Eth0 is the WAN port. Eth1 is the LAN port. Other ports not used. Eth1 is connected to a Asus XG-U2008 unmanaged switch. All other wired devices are connected to this switch. I have Static DHCP 12 IP addresses set on the DHCP server. All...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

So is any router or security device, like Ubquiti DPI, or Fing Network tools app, hell, the basic wifi scan abilities of a smart phone has a system that can "scan" and discover things about your network. The big thing to this particular device that is unlike most the rest out there, is that...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

\They mention not using DPI...some thing that CPU and RAM intensive is it not? Ubiquiti uses DPI. So I have to wonder if Vektor's method, is more efficient and just as good, or better.

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Well, this thread has gotten off topic...lolz. It WAS supposed to be comparing the performance of the EDGE Router 12 to the Asus router.... Yes...yes, it seems the current Unifi product line gateway and perhaps wifi aps are infact, lower performance than a single top end Asus AIO router..but...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

It's $149 for 1x device and a LIFETIME subscription. When they cross out the $390...that is a marketing thing...it wont cost that much after the Crowd fund stage is over, more around $199, if it even goes up. It they charged $390 for it, + a monthly sub, that is WAY beyond the cost their...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

Sure did. What I (or U) think about the person who is developing the product, is irrelevant to the product itself. You 2 users are the ones that immediately, upon seeing the words FaceBook...nee jerk reaction was to ignore everything else about the product, and comment only on the fact that...

    Vektor Security/Privacy device thoughts?

Why? "former head of security for Facebook" does NOT mean "the guy responsible for every aspect of end user privacy within the app". Rather, he was likely in charge of security tools to secure the corporate networks from actual hacking attempts, not so much the app code itself. I am not the...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Perhaps not, but if u read further, the point they make is the return of contact/feedback for each unit sent out is FAR greater than before where units were free. That is what matters.

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Direct response from Ubquiti: The reason this changed - from sending out Beta units for free to the EA store several years ago - is simple: the vast majority of units sent out for evaluation/test for free never had any hard data returned to UBNT by those who received them. In one case there...
