    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Then how about you stop mirroring them and stop just posting things that are just personal opinion and bias...and post actual facts, data, benchmarks, net stats....etc. To prove your claims. Asking for others experience, comparisons to other products and end results IS part of doing research...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Ok. but what is your ISP WAN speeds? Is it a 1Gig connection? The routers CPU is what handles actual routing, where as local network traffic on LAN is done by switching. At least, that is what I have read so far.

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Everything is configurable, same as any enterprise router. Via Counsel port or CLI/GUI on each device. The Unifi management software (and the Edge products UMNS software) is local managed. U have to install in on to a computer or embedded type device on your network, such as a Pi or whatever...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Looked at those. Dont want or need those features. Or to start adding in things to my already stable Asus router. Looking for all integrated things. Ublock origin in web browser works fine. Dont need QOS. Dont use VPN (on the router level) or Guest wifi. My ISPs DNS is local and the fastest(3...

    AC86U vs EdgeRouter

Wifi Range is not an issue for me. I live in a single level, 2 bed small apartment in the corner of a large apartment complex. So all my wifi devices are always quite close to the wifi ap. Router is centrally located already and I can pick up my wifi several units ways from me. I am mainly...

ASUS RT-AC86U Dual Band AC2900 Wireless Router Reviewed

I purchased a 86U from MicroCenter on 9-14-18. The 2.4ghz wifi radio failed on 10-27-18. I exchanged the router (ate up the stores $40 Replacement plant since it was past the 30 day return policy) I paid again for a new 3yr Protection plan on the new router. Annoying, but far more fast and...

Cant take the down time to mess with firmware and even changing the thing out. I have DVR and other things that are running that need wired network connectivity for the next couple weeks. [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.7 is now available

Did not think it was firmware related. But it seems to worsen the issue after the update flash. Overheating???? Umm...its only about 21C in the room, and colder then ever as Winter is now here. Infact, my old AC68U got much warmer to the touch than this AC86U does and that old thing still ran...
