    ASUS RT-AC56U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5656

My observations since flashing this. When it flashed the file, it said "Reboot the router manually". The web GUI did not responded, so I pressed the power button to re-start it. 5ghz link rate on my Intel AC7260 does seem to be lower and fluctuate a bit more than before. (I am only about 10...

    OpenWRT for Linksys WRT1900AC

A pre-alpha or just to see if it runs build. Too risky. They are still missing stuff they need according to the other posts. They haven't actually made a release yet. Everywhere else I read, won't be a release for quite some time. I would rather wait until a stable version is released....much...

    OpenWRT for Linksys WRT1900AC

How are you installing OpenWRT on this model as of yet?....I don't see any builds for it. Last I read, the weren't just getting to the planning stages of thinking about it. And having to recode the crap code they got from Marvel.

    RT-AC66U Ports Not Forwarding

Do you have the device you are trying to forward directly connected to this router you are setting the forward on? I ask cause I see you have a forward for "Asus Second Router". Also, is the device using a Static IP address. (manual DHCP assignment setting in LAN/DHCP Sever Tab).

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5047

With beam-forming, signal going up and down is normal as it adjusts. The client wifi NIC has to support beam forming. My Intel AC7260 works fine with both implicit and explicit beam forming. I have noticed signal with drop to 1 bar, then will go back to full. Had no issues with speed.

    RT-AC66U Ports Not Forwarding

Are you leaving the "Local Port" field blank...? It should be. The Help pop up says this: "Leave this field blank if you want the incoming packets to be redirected to this port." I was frustrated when I first set port forwards and it did not work, but soon as I left that field blank, works...

Connect additional router via BOTH LAN and WAN...?

How about get a main router that supports a guest wifi? I have CenturyLink C1000A in bridge mode with my Asus AC56U....much better performance than with ISP modem in router mode. I will occasionally connect a random router to my network just to test or configure it...using daisy chained...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

Default region on Tomato was not USA. It was some other country(Singapore, I think). Set it to Japan and u can use the other channels. However, only one of my wifi adapters could see and use those channels...so not practical. I was not even aware that it was not set to USA for quite some time...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

I live in an L shaped 3rd floor apartment. Stuckko outer walls, metal beams in the inner walls. 2.4band unusable 30+ networks. I only care about 5ghz and wired performance. With my AC56U, It covers my entire place. I can even walk down the outer hallway, 2 units over and still stay connected...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5047

I have used WHS2011, but upgraded to Sever 2012 R2 Essentials which is basically the same. For the Remote Web Access page, you have to setup the domain name thing at initial setup (wahtever.remotewebaccess.com) (it was something different in older versions). I have only had the wizard say it...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5047

Many things don't work with UPnP and have to be forwarded manually. I have to manually forward ports for everything I do, my win server box, cctv software, dvr, teamspeak and game servers. I think torrent software like Utorrent uses it....so for that, where a port forward need only be...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5047

Is there a setting in the router GUI that I can manage UPnP (other than the on/off toggle in the WAN tab) ..I am on stock firmware. I noticed in my log (port forwarding tab)2 (tcp, udp) port forwards from my laptop for port 17005 redirect to an ip in London (I am in usa)....no idea what that is.

You can check on the client side, via the OS Network properties (or there are network monitoring software you can get) or a an app if it is a smartphone etc.

I can't stand that guy in the video. Can't understand a word he says. Why did CNET hire that guy...he is so annoying. Anyway, finally, least one review points out the mis-categorization issue that Linksys newer "smart wifi" firmware has. DDNS and port forwarding setting under Security...really...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

All of the above. Its been a while and I did not think to make a written record of it at the time. ( I may have mentioned some of the numbers in previous posts way back when I first joined SMB or somewhere else on the web) Only particular details I remember and was mostly concerned about was...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

That would be a bit of an undertaking. Some router models have quite a few different flavors and sub-builds of alternative firmware available. In my experience, switching from stock firmware to alternative firmware has always been good. I went from stock Netgear to DD-WRT on a wnd3000(?)...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

mmmm....PC World says its the fastest router they have tested....a bit contradictory to the review posted here in comparison to other models. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2143623/linksys-wrt1900ac-wi-fi-router-review-faster-than-anything-we-ve-tested.html Their 2.4ghz bad tests greatly...
