VLAN How To: Segmenting a small LAN

Doug, Here are the LGS308 config screens and my settings. Port 1 is connected to the router / WAN. With these settings as shown in the attached JPGs, devices on the 3 VLANs can get to the WAN. BUT I can also ping from VLAN 3 to VLAN 2. NOT GOOD. As soon as I "CHECK" the G5 & G6 "PVID" on...

VLAN How To: Segmenting a small LAN

Thanks Doug. I had seen Example 2. However, on the Linksys LGS308, when I try to make VLAN 1 (G1) part of VLAN2, it removes G1 from VLAN1. The linksys switch is slightly different in its configuration, After you create the VLANs, you set the port specifics (U,T, General, etc.) for each...

    Linksys LGS308

Do all cheap managed switches, such as the Linksys LGS308, require a VLAN-aware router? Port 1 has router connected to it. Can not configure switch to make port1 also be part of VLAN2 & 3. Therefore VLAN2 & 3 devices can not access the internet on the router. VLAN2&3 can not access the Router...

VLAN How To: Segmenting a small LAN

Doug or anyone, help please. Tried to configure a Linksys LGS308 very similar to the article, except VLAN1 as NETWORK (as mentioned in the TIP). NON VLAN aware router on Port 1, Ports 2-4 computers, Ports 5 and 6 = VLAN 2, Port 7 = VLAN 3. Whenever I try to change the membership of VLAN 2...

Can Wifi on router be added to a switch VLAN?

I have a RT-AC1900P and using all ports and WiFi. I'm using AsusWRT. I going add a LGS308 (managed switch) and move some of my wired clients to a VLAN on this switch. I also have a spare Dlink DIR655 WiFi - N router. Can I make a WiFi client on the RT-AC1900P a part of a VLAN on the switch?

    LGS308

Hello, Can anyone please comment on how noisy the fan is in this switch? I like this switch'es features (compared to the Netgear GS108T), but concerned about the fan noise. Thanks.

    Vlan Switch Advice

I'm also considering the LGS308. How loud is the fan(s)? Also considering the Netgear GS108T-200NAS and the TP-SG2008. The GS108T has limited security features, and the SG2008 apparently has security flaws.

Thanks very much for this easy procedure. Now , is there a way to do the opposite, that is, allow WAN access but block LAN access?

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7266

I'm also confused. Is there an internet connection problem with 380.7266? When upgrading to 380.7266, should one do a factory reset, and manually make ALL my configuration changes that existed with my 380.4164, or can I restore a saved 380.4164 CFG file? RMerlin says one should always do a...

RT-AC1900P - Prevent device access to WAN

Ok, you are correct. It works with computers just fine. I did my testing with a ChromcastAudio and Chromecast. It appears on those two devices, if they don't have internet access, they won't allow connections from the LAN. The Google forum confirmed this. ChromeCast devices report back to...
