    Yes these routers dynamically manage their resources. The larger the lists you use, the more memory it consumes. There is nothing wrong with it running at high %. That does not mean a thing other than the router is managing to do its job.

    Yes the 68u is old hardware and no encryption acceleration like the 86u. The 68u is the same hardware found in the Netgear r7000 which also has slower vpn throughput.

    Guest for IOT devices

    Yazfi does what you are looking for. Works great for me. iot devices have internet but not intranet and i have them isolated from the other iot on the same ssid. I can initiate access from the lan to the iot network but not initiate from iot to intranet.

I would prefer not to have to run dd-wrt on the router just to get NordVPN working on it since there are issues...

    Have you look at Google's "G Suite"? https://gsuite.google.com/pricing.html https://gsuite.google.com/features/ I would suggest looking there first. You can go the NAS route of course but then you need to consider your internet upload speed which is only 15Mbps. Thats not very fast for folks...
