What exactly is Asuswrt-Merlin and how will I benefit from it?

Pardon me from my ignorance, but what exactly is Asuswrt-Merlin and how will I benefit from it? Would appreciate if someone can explain to me in layman terms... From what I understand, it is basically a 3rd party firmware that aims to improve and fix the issues with the official firmware from...

Good Brand VS Not so Good Brand Ethernet Cables

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

Asking about the details that's why if there's not much diff, wouldn't need to get ASUS. The actual situation is ISP is giving a D-LINK 868L, so wondering if should just use it as a wired router for the purpose mentioned above or get a cheaper router to use as wired router if it has much better...

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

referring to wired only. seems like they are generally more expensive as long as it's business-class

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

yea. the bottle neck will also be at the lan speed. but business-class products are somehow more expensive?

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

ahhh thanks very much.. yea get what you mean.. if it's like a 1gbps internet, so 1024mpbs up and down, anything above those number theoretically doesn't make a diff since the bottleneck will be on the internet.

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

ok. thanks very much for your patience, a bit clearer now hopefully.. So between PC connected to the RJ45, the speed will be at gigabit speed, but for PC to the internet, up and down will depend on the router hence have to look at the "WAN to LAN Throughput" and "LAN to WAN Throughput" and...

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

apologies for repeatedly asking the same questions, but didn't quite get the more technical parts of the replies hence didn't really see the straight forward answer, but will try to read it again. Think it's better to include a drawing to illustrate the point, as I may not have made myself...

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

So LAN to WAN is upload speed? What about WAN to LAN? When I look at the benchmark, I should look at the WAN to LAN numbers, LAN to WAN numbers, Total Simultaneous numbers where the higher the numbers the better it is?

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

Ok pardon me for my confusion, but I'm seeing mixed information from you and L&LD. As you can see from the initial question about the best networking setup, a router would be needed to connect the termination of the cat6 cables. So would the routing performance of the wired/wireless (with...

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

Oh so even if using it for wired connection, different gigabit wireless routers will still have different performance level for wired connection? Is my understanding right? And looking at WAN to LAN throughput will give a good idea the performance as it measures the download speed you can obtain...

Forgo high-end router totally and just go with APs?

"Of course, there can be huge differences between the routing performance between the internal LAN and the WAN / internet between routers of the same class and especially of different classes like your question asks about." Don't particularly understand this part of your post. Say for example...
