Solved Requesting log review of possible attack

VPN Server now off How can an outsider "see" that? Why does blocking access to that network from the LAN cause the router to lock out local WiFi and hardwired clients? Am I correct that the user name has been compromised? -or- Does that mean Asus' DDNS data has been compromised? Is that...

Solved Requesting log review of possible attack

Greetings. I have been seeing some strange listings in my General SysLog. I added line feeds & emphasis to make it clearer to read. I think what's happening is the actual user name (replaced by _USERNAME_ below) may be compromised. I can't tell from this if the password is also compromised or is...

    Solved RT-AC87U / RT-AC87R firmware 3.0.0.4_382_51939 issues

27 JAN 2020 | UPDATE | RESOLVED :) I believe I may have found the problem with this FW update for my RT-AC87R. Ensured the router was stable over a period of time & conditions; Backed up the settings file (naturally), noting the fw version in the backup name; Downloaded a copy of the latest &...

    ASUS RT-AC87U_9.0.0.4_384_110

Young kids = lots of $$$. Maybe try tinkering with the Professional settings in 2.5 & 5 WiFi before tossing everything. Here are some to get you started: The 87 works fine if it's working and setup properly. But… there are a lot of settings and eeking out that last bit of performance can be...

Here's a transparent Roomba 960, in 70 x 70 px, at 6½ KB. Btw, I'm liking https://www.online-image-editor.com/ for fiddling with the image transparencies. I've always had issues trying to make that work in Paint… along with other things.

Solved AiProtection & URL Filter — am I using it wrong?

That's pretty much where I've been except your method is W-A-Y cooler! I would have totally done this if I'd had a clue how to write & implement it. I'd have called it Forrest and just let it run and run and run. If they're not dead, it's not overkill. ;)

Solved AiProtection & URL Filter — am I using it wrong?

So… Does this mean: "Sky, you're using it wrong. If AiProtection is already seeing — and stopping — those IPs from attacking you as witnessed by the Two-Way IPS log, then there is no reason to populate the URL Filter with those same IPs or even IP ranges gleaned from reviewing the log. It's...

Solved AiProtection & URL Filter — am I using it wrong?

Greetings, All. I am trying to figure out if I am just spinning my wheels, wasting time, and worse — wasting precious memory on my router, or if what I'm doing is actually worthwhile. I suspect I'm simply duplicating an already working system and maybe even causing it to be less efficient than...

    ASUS RT-AC87U_9.0.0.4_384_110

Yeah, that's a problem. I can do it on laptops and desktops, but not our Apple devices (sigh). I have not tried turning down the broadcast power of the router — seems rather "contraindicated". You might, however, be able to snoop out channel crowding in your facility. That could help. I know...

    ASUS RT-AC87U_9.0.0.4_384_110

All: I get this, and I don't. I used to have this same trouble. I went through router after router, tried repeaters, custom bridges, etc., all to no avail. Then — an epiphany! I run a couple of AC87U's in places hundreds of miles apart. Both are in multi-story buildings, one is a 2-story the...

    Solved RT-AC87U / RT-AC87R firmware 3.0.0.4_382_51939 issues

I just checked the RE-AC87U at our other site. It is still running FW 3.0.0.4.382_51640 and is rock-solid. Interestingly, it does not show a FW update as being available!

    Solved RT-AC87U / RT-AC87R firmware 3.0.0.4_382_51939 issues

That's the same way I usually do it, and like you I always keep a backup of the cfg file. Unfortunately my first time through with 382.51939 I tried something new (from the iOS app) and got smacked for it. Once that fouled I couldn't get online with the router at all. After I pulled it from...

It seems others are having issues with 382_51939 also. Of special interest to me was this FW update appears applied to multiple models of routers. On spiceworks the OP is using an RT-AC3200 On Reddit the OP is using an RT-AC87U The full FW file in both cases is 3.0.0.4_382_51939-g3ecf3e2. I...

    Solved RT-AC87U / RT-AC87R firmware 3.0.0.4_382_51939 issues

Glad you posted! That cinches it for me. If it's happening on other modem(s) on other ISP(s) then it's definitely the FW. I'm going back to 382.51641 and waiting for this garbage to blow over. I have never had a problem like this with the ASUS fw. What a mess.

    Solved RT-AC87U / RT-AC87R firmware 3.0.0.4_382_51939 issues

1 DEC 19 | UPDATE So… not finding any issues with ASUS' updates 382_51641 nor 382_51939 I decided to take the plunge with the router disconnected from the modem and hardwired to my laptop, no WiFi involved. I admit I was concerned that 641 was followed in just a few days by 939; not only was it...
