Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 Beta is now available

Thanks for the links and for setting me straight. So while other router models have received updated wi-fi drivers from ASUS/Broadcom, the AC86U has not?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 Beta is now available

I'm guessing it was the AX models only. I run an RT-AC86U and don't have any IoT devices so I didn't pay too much attention to those discussions. The only 2.4 device I have that's ever given me trouble (constant disconnects) is a Dolphin robotic pool cleaner and I always figured that was an...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 Beta is now available

That's interesting. Do we know which models are getting new wireless drivers?

Diversion If I'm using a hosted whitelist, can I also whitelist a specific domain?

Yeah, having the option to keep the whitelist entries as the local file is a pretty elegant workaround. And probably an indication that @thelonelycoder has already thought it through:) EDIT: ^ Yep, he's thought it through!

Diversion If I'm using a hosted whitelist, can I also whitelist a specific domain?

That's exactly what I thought would work as well. The problem being, because I'm using a hosted whitelist, I don't get any option to edit or add an entry. Instead I get this: Edits are not active until processed 1. whitelist hosted settings 2. Edit blacklist 3. Edit wildcard-blacklist 4...

Diversion If I'm using a hosted whitelist, can I also whitelist a specific domain?

I'm using a hosted whitelist in Diversion and also wanted to whitelist a specific domain (tags.news.com.au). For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do this. Is it possible, or will I have to stop using the hosted whitelist if I want to add domains of my own?

    iOS Shortcut for Diversion

Just moved to an M1 iMac running OS X 12.1 and was pleasantly surprised to find Shortcuts, including my Diversion shortcut, installed and working on the desktop system. So it's not just for iOS anymore:-)

    [ 386.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I normally don't run alpha releases (primarily because Merlin's releases are so solid I rarely feel the need to upgrade), but figured I'd give alpha3 a shot on my RT-AC86U and it has been rock solid since I uploaded it four days ago.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker v4.2.x (see new thread for 4.3.x)

Was wondering about that. I'll reboot as soon as I can and see what the disk check shows. EDIT: Rebooted and the USB wouldn't mount, with disk check not recognising the formatting. So something had definitely gone wrong. Used amtm to reformat, add a swap file and then re-install Diversion and...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker v4.2.x (see new thread for 4.3.x)

Good course of action. I should mention that I tried reinstalling Diversion through amtm and it didn't work. Now whenever I try to access Diversion from amtm I get the message "Running function reinstall" before it errors out and returns me to the amtm menu. I'll try rebooting the router later...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker v4.2.x (see new thread for 4.3.x)

Same issue hereon my RT-AC86U. Now getting these errors: /opt/bin/diversion: line 66: /opt/bin/grep: Accessing a corrupted shared library /opt/bin/diversion: line 66: /opt/bin/grep: Accessing a corrupted shared library /opt/bin/diversion: line 66: /opt/bin/grep: Accessing a corrupted shared...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Was curious and had an opportunity (wife and kids stepped out, so nobody would howl about the network being down for three minutes) so I just updated my RT-AC86U to 386.1_2 (from 386.1) with no issue whatsoever - straight into the web GUI after the update. As I said, I had to wait for 90 minutes...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Sounds like the same "issue" people had when initially installing 386.1: there's database/maintenance stuff going on and you just have to wait and be patient. Some reports suggested it could take anything up to a couple of hours before you're able to access the web GUI. I know my RT-AC86U took...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

A separate thread might be a good idea. And I agree: unless it actually starts causing problems with the day-to-day running of the router, the higher temperature readings are not an issue. Oddly, mine did hit 89 degrees last night (when it wasn't particularly hot) but has dropped down to 83...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I know what you're saying, but the problem is the bug *IS* fixed, or at least it's supposed to be fixed. I didn't try any of the beta releases, but I'm surprised that my AC86U - even with the fixed code and CPU Wait enabled by default - is still running 10 degrees hotter than it was. Looks like...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I hadn't checked it, but I get the same error with the included Speedtest on my AC86U if I use Safari as the browser. Firefox works.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Went ahead and bit the bullet and upgraded from 384.19 on my RT-AC86U. WebGUI was unresponsive for about 90 minutes while the database maintenance did its thing. No real issue because everything was working fine anyway - you just have to show a little patience if you want to see that sweet...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

How long did you wait for the web interface? Listed as a known issue and others in the thread have said it might take anywhere up to 90 minutes to come online.

Upgraded to Merlin 386.1 but got "warning: remote host identification has changed" when trying to SSH into the router

On a Mac you could also use Go to Folder in the Finder to delete the known_hosts file you'll find there. Go to: /Users/Username/.ssh/

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I get that the high temperature issue of the AC86U might not seem like a big problem to those without AC86U routers. But I came to ASUS hardware and Merlin's firmware because high temperatures on my Linksys router were causing random reboots, so it's not "just numbers" in some cases. Australian...
