Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

You can "dirty flash" rc2-11 over your existing firmware and leave the router settings as-is. If you run into problems however, your best bet will be a factory reset and reconfiguring the settings from scratch, without importing any of your previous settings. If you don't have any problems after...

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

Looks good. I'd suggest trying a small fan nearby to help with airflow, or relocating your 86U if it's inside a closet or boxed-in somewhere that does not allow it to get decent airflow.

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

SSH into your 86U...type the following command in the terminal: pwr show Paste the output. Just want to double-check that CPU Wait is ENABLED. A fan nearby may help...or placing the 86U in a cooler, more open location might also help decrease the CPU temp. The 86U is cooled passively, using...

    GT-AC5300 QoS and Tempsense

It is mind boggling how QoS/GameBoost/Gear Acceleration all tie together in the GT's firmware...the various layers are confusing to say the least. I think that's mostly due to how ASUS has slapped "ROG" terminology over everything. The documentation isn't exactly clear either. Excellent analysis...

    GT-AC5300 QoS and Tempsense

@C.O.P.S - do any of the posts in the thread below help at all? I know the QoS tab is moved under Game Acceleration, but am not sure how it compares to QoS in other ASUS routers, or which firmware you're running on your GT-AC5300 (are you on the latest 386_41994 beta, or using an official?)...

    GT-AC5300 QoS and Tempsense

@C.O.P.S - thanks for figuring the temperatures out and summarizing it in one thread. I wasn't sure how to get temps off of my GT-AC5300 as none of the shell commands I was finding online did the job. It would be nice if ASUS added temperature read-out in the tools menu, as the Merlin firmware...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

@L&LD...if the Merlin build fully supported my main AP Router, I'd be on it in a heart-beat. I know the ROG-specific features are still being worked on (based on 386.1 being available for the GT-AC2900, with some ROG features supported), maybe some day, but probably not. I do use some of the ROG...

    Beta RT-AC68U 9.0.0.4.386.41994 Beta Version

Chances are they cranked out some newer builds before the DNSmasq security vulnerabilities got onto their radar, so they made other changes and then patched up DNSmasq. Just speculating but that's my best guess. I have some other systems that were patched for DNSmasq vulnerabilities via standard...

    Beta RT-AC68U 9.0.0.4.386.41994 Beta Version

There are under-the-hood changes beyond just the DNSmasq security fixes. Some have reported better stability/performance, some have reported additional issues cropping up, not unusual for a beta. For me personally, I've run into stability issues with the web UI on the GT-AC5300 as the main...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

I experienced an odd anomaly this afternoon...I reset one of my 68U's that was acting up and when it restarted it came up as a main router/access point with old SSID info that it carried over from my GT-AC5300 before I factory reset everything a few days ago. I could not get it into "AiMesh"...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

The only way to do a proper factory reset is to first flash the latest firmware build you want to run, proceed with the factory reset, then configure the router from scratch. Importing a settings file will grab defaults and values that may grab old/deprecated settings values and lead to issues...

Can i use let's encrypt certifcate also for intrenet synology

Anything that is internally-facing (intranet-only), whether or not SSL certificates are necessary is debatable for numerous reasons. Best practices would dictate always using them. However, most use them simply to get rid of web browser annoyances and warnings. Or, just access your router's...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

I will check that out - is that only applicable to Merlin builds or does it play nice with the official firmware?

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

Only reason I went with the import is that I had just reset it to default and configured from scratch on a similar firmware just days prior, so I had saved those settings immediately after re-configuring from scratch on 386. It would be nice if the firmware allowed individual import of the port...

True...you can just opt to "Remove Node" which resets it back to factory defaults. Easy enough to do.

    Trouble Finding AiMesh Node

Which ethernet port are you using on the back of your 68U? The ethernet cable should be connected to the WAN port (which should be home-run back to your main router) to connect that router as an AiMesh node. I have not had problems connecting 68U's as AiMesh nodes in that manner (I have 4 of...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

I do like the "System Reset to Factory Default" within AiMesh Settings in the new 386 firmware. Factory resets everything, mesh nodes and main router, with the touch of a button. One thing it doesn't do is initialize the logs at the main router. Still have to do that through Administration >...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

Other than the web UI freezing after a GT-AC5300 main router reset, I haven't had any issues on 386_41994. My main router (GT-AC5300) and all AiMesh nodes (one RT-AC86U and four RT-AC68U's) are all running 386_41994 at this point. I think that's the first time I've had all mesh nodes and the...
