    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

not debating or denying that radar may be affecting things, but if it is, that’s a change or bug in the latest version.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

there is an airport a few miles away, but they didn’t build it yesterday, and 160MHz has worked with more than one router (including this AX86U) for the 3 years I’ve had it enabled. So I guess it’s possible that the new driver builds new checks or more scrutiny into the process with possibly...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

Not saying it doesn’t, but what does client shared key security have to do with the bandwidth used by the router?

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

I’m back on 46061 with 36 as the control channel and it’s back working again. The only variable connected to it not working is the new firmware.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

I did a complete power cycle. After the firmware updates, the GUI forces you to do so.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

Does this latest version work differently than the previous AX86U or the latest AX88U firmware? I see different behavior and the router was still showing only an 80MHz channel after hours.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

I have channel bandwidth set at 160MHz with channel 36 as the control channel. Same config I used with my AX88U that worked for years, and then worked fine with the AX86U until updating to the new version today. Could not get the new one work. Going back to 46061 brought back reliability. Maybe...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

Just went back to 46061. The new firmware 49447 would not do 160 MHz for AX. I’ve been using 160 MHz for years on my AX88U and for a month on the AX86U. There’s no issue at my house. Suddenly the AX86U with the new firmware would only do 80MHz. 160MHz works fine on 46061.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

It does show an available upgrade when I checked. I have auto upgrade disabled. I’m a little wary to download the update in the GUI. I always download and do a checksum validation and manually update. Also don’t want to jump the gun if there’s an issue.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

Tried to update this morning and getting a 404 error from the official download link on the Asus site. Was the firmware pulled?

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

Is a full reset required for this update or is a “dirty” update fine? Looks like some folks mentioning needing to do a reset.

"Anonymous" device name and log entries. Being hacked?

Yes. And I thought (maybe incorrectly) that the device will use the same private MAC for a network, until the device is removed from the network. I have my iPhone, my wife's iphone, and her watch identified and the device named in the router. This new "anonymous" device just showed up and on...

"Anonymous" device name and log entries. Being hacked?

I'm also seeing these entries repeatedly, and what's weird is the time is 4 hours ahead of the rest of the log entries. It's as if these entries are using UTC time rather than local time. May 29 22:22:19 kernel: wl0: random key value...

"Anonymous" device name and log entries. Being hacked?

I noticed in the Asus app that there's an offline device named "Anonymous" in the devices list. There's no IP info and the MAC address doesn't match any known devices. The following shows up in the router log and shows the device is authenticating successfully but then dropping after 24...

RT-AX86U bricked after update Version 3.0.0.4.386.48377

I’m new to this router having bought it a few weeks ago. I get that the last firmware update was pulled because it bricked many routers. Do we know why it bricked routers? I’m assuming Asus will issue another update at some point. Was it a specific issue with the firmware or the router that...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/11)

    I just bought a AX86U, so I hope that’s not the case.

    AX86U to replace AX88U

None of my clients are wired, so I don’t care what the wired ports support. The router sits in a closet.

    AX86U to replace AX88U

I use aggregation now to combine the 1Gb ethernet ports on my current Arris T25 eMTA into a virtual 2Gb link. I have WAN aggregation enabled on the AX88U. I ditched voice, so I bought an Arris S33 to replace the T25 and it has a 2.5Gb port on it. I plan to use the AX86U with the 2.5Gb port as...
