Release ASUS RT-AX88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.42819

Dirty upgrade over 42095 3 hours ago and so far all is well.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

I’ve had great luck with my AX88U. Works nearly perfectly. If I was a “normal” consumer, I’d set, forget, and let it update automatically. One of the reasons I stopped using Merlin’s builds is they were adding instability with features I didn’t need or care about. The official firmware just...

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

Am not having any issues like that at all here, so possibly not related to the router? WAN has been solid with no dropped connections.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

You can only have one 5GHz network (other than guest networks). I have the 5GHz wireless settings to channel bandwidth = 160 MHz. I use a static control channel. Done.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

Same as before. On an WiFi 6 endpoint. Same endpoint that was maxing out the Internet pipe at 1.2Gbps. I’m able to hit 1.4Gbps momentarily (Comcast updated provisioned speeds), but not getting the consistent throughput. Could be on Comcast’s end and just coincidental to the firmware change.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

After being on this firmware for about a week, the biggest issue seems to be reduced speeds to devices. WiFi just isn’t providing the same throughput. Maybe it’s coincidental, but I’m getting significantly slower results on speed tests now than prior to the update.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

Only thing is that the MAC address in the error I posted belongs to an Apple Watch my daughter wears. So it’s not the router MAC. I’ll ignore since it’s not causing any real issues.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

There’s no mesh in my home, regular or otherwise. So no idea why it’s showing up, but will ignore.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

The only thing I'm seeing in the log is this: Mar 7 10:02:09 kernel: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX not mesh client, can't update it's ip I don't have mesh configured at all. No routers or clients or anything mesh related. Anyone know what this is?

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

Dirty flash from beta 41994 to release 42095. No issues so far. WAN aggregation working and 160MHz WiFi 6 working well. My connection tops at 1.2Gbps, and my laptop hit full speed via WiFi.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

The beta has been running rock solid. Curious to see the opinions on the new release.

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

I’ve had no issues. But I’m not using AIMesh, QoS, VPN, or any advanced features other than WAN aggregation, and that’s been working well. I use WiFi on both spectrums with a mix of clients, with IPv6 and firewall. My use case is firewall/router.

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

Looks like the 2.4GHz clients are seeing correct speeds now. So don’t know why they were slow this morning. Maybe just an unrelated correlation, or maybe something on the router that was temporary.

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

Can’t take that kind of downtime right now, but will probably do a reset when the next release comes out.

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

I updated to the beta and all seems OK so far. Only issue I’ve noticed is that 2.4GHz wifi speeds seem to be a lot slower. 5GHz was blazing to almost 1.2Gbps as normal. My phone (ax client) typically gets around 150 Mbps with the 2.4 GHz network set to 20 MHz. Upload is usually close to the...

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

Does a “quick fix beta” mean that it addresses and targets those CVEs but the rest of the firmware is essentially unchanged from 41700?

Genuine question - Why is the recommended ‘reset to factory settings’ so complicated?

Maybe just my mix of devices and configuration, but I’ve had the same SSIDs for 20 years and never changed. We have a mix of iOS, Android, Windows, and IOT devices and never had a problem with any reconnecting to the same network name.

Genuine question - Why is the recommended ‘reset to factory settings’ so complicated?

I think there are always people who will recommend a “dance” which is often based on what may have been needed years ago to get around a long since defunct issue, but now is no longer required. Asus puts a factory reset option in the GUI and that’s all I’ve personally every done.

    Release New AX88U Firmware v3.0.0.4.386.41700

My AX88U has been on the latest st firmware for 6 days, and for 4 days has been on 160MHz channel bandwidth on the 5 GHz network. Been rock solid. No issues, except for the 1st day on 160MHz I used “auto” channel selection. After setting a fixed control channel it’s been rock solid. I was...

Recommended config for 160 MHz with WiFi 6 and AX88U
