    Bandwidth Monitor not working

Somewhat unrelated, but I have an AX86U and I don't see that Internet Traffic information in the Status tab on the Network Map page. Is this normal, would be nice to have it.

AiMesh AX86U main + one XT8. Should I enable Roaming Assistant?

Hm ok. I think that complicates things with AiMesh and then you'd have to use Roaming Assistant. Maybe I'll try it to see if it makes a difference.

ZenWiFi XT8 as AiMesh node - how to select 5GHz-1 channel?

I don't see that. Maybe you'd see that if you're using two XT8s, but I have a main AX86U and an XT8 node. I agree, I researched this further since posting, and with a dual-band as the main router and a tri-band as the node, there is no way to control the node's 2nd 5 GHz band at all. And...

AiMesh AX86U main + one XT8. Should I enable Roaming Assistant?

I don't really want to get into it, but basically I have to have a single SSID, it's not for any technical reason.

AiMesh AX86U main + one XT8. Should I enable Roaming Assistant?

Oh it's wireless backhaul, using channel 100. On the XT8 I can't select the fronthaul channel when it's an AiMesh node, but it seems to default to 52. The XT8's backhaul band can only do 100-140, and the fronthaul, only 36-64. I don't think Roaming Assistant works, that's why I turned it off, I...

AiMesh AX86U main + one XT8. Should I enable Roaming Assistant?

So I have an AiMesh system with an AX86U main router and one node. My node was an AC66U B1, which I recently replaced with an XT8. After I started using the XT8, I noticed that a lot more clients were connecting to it vs. the main router. Pretty much only the devices that are in the same room...

ZenWiFi XT8 as AiMesh node - how to select 5GHz-1 channel?

I am using SmartConnect unfortunately, don't want to, but I have to... But I don't think it makes a difference. I can't access any 5-1 bandwidth/channel settings. I am using AiMesh with the main router being an AX86U. I can select the main router's channel, which then connects to 5GHz-2 on the...

ZenWiFi XT8 as AiMesh node - how to select 5GHz-1 channel?

Sort of a follow-up to my other thread where I was trying to figure out if there's a way to use the 5GHz-2 (4x4 160MHz) band on the XT8 as both backhaul and fronthaul with AiMesh. Spoiler alert - you can't. You can only use it as backhaul. Okay, so I'm using the other band for devices. However...

ZenWiFi AX (XT8) as node - can you turn off second 5 GHz radio?

And you know it just occurred to me that if my AX86U ever switches from Channel 100, as it does a few times a year to Channel 52 - I'm 99% sure it's not because of a radar event but some firmware glitch - then the XT8 will actually switch to 2.4 GHz backhaul and stay there until I notice it and...

ZenWiFi AX (XT8) as node - can you turn off second 5 GHz radio?

Well based on my research, in Repeater mode, no roaming happens at all. Clients just hold onto the network until they lose signal and only then reconnect. I have been using AiMesh with older Asus routers and roaming works pretty well, definitely not perfect, but it works, and you can adjust the...

ZenWiFi AX (XT8) as node - can you turn off second 5 GHz radio?

Thanks for the reply. So I pretty much spent the whole day testing it and I've concluded that there is no way to make the 5GHz-2 work as fronthaul using AiMesh. If you set up the XT8 as a repeater, then it does work. I don't want to do that however, mainly because AiMesh's roaming is better...

ZenWiFi AX (XT8) as node - can you turn off second 5 GHz radio?

I know this is a weird question, but I am using my XT8 as an AiMesh node with an AX86U as the main router. And I would like to turn off the XT8's 2x2 5 GHz radio. The 4x4 5 GHz radio has plenty of bandwidth to provide the backhaul AND serve clients without a bottleneck as I only have a 100 mbps...

RT-ATX86U Latest firmware messed up AiMesh tab

Am I the only one having this issue? Since I last updated AX86U's stock firmware, whenever I go to the AiMesh tab, I get a text-only garbled page. That's usually pretty normal for the UI to happen occasionally and you just have to refresh and it's okay. But in this case, I keep refreshing and it...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) "Unidentified network" issue

I searched a lot, did not find much. There's this thread: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-zenwifi-ax-xt8-hard-bricked.79374/ That confirms the existence of JTAG leads, but the thread ends with the guy not knowing how to flash new firmware to NAND using JTAG, I have PMed him, we'll...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) "Unidentified network" issue

Mine is V1. So no way to access it via JTAG? Nothing I can do, wrong firmware means it's unfixable, really?
  17. Q

    ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) hard-bricked?

I also have a bricked XT8. I get normal LED responses, but it does not create a WiFi network and when I plug in an ethernet cable I get "Unidentified network" in Windows. A factory reset does not fix it, and the router enters rescue mode successfully but the recovery tool cannot access it to...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) "Unidentified network" issue

Well that's discouraging. Isn't there a way to access it using JTAG or another similar interface?

firmware update via usb stick anecdote

Sorry I'm replying to a very old post, but I have an issue where doing something like this might actually be useful. Are you saying that you managed to flash firmware to an AX86U via its USB port? I have a bricked XT8 that seems functional based on LED activity, except it's inaccessible via...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) "Unidentified network" issue

Ok, so my theory is that the router is functional and there is no hardware issue, but it's bricked by someone flashing the wrong firmware to it, or perhaps the right firmware didn't flash correctly. It all appears to work fine based on responses I get from the LEDs, except the router is...
