Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

If you want to see which processes are using swap and how much they each use, here is a short script. On my AX88U running unbound, ntpMerlin, spdMerlin and a few other self inflicted scripts, all I see are 0 for the amount of swap actually used. #!/bin/sh for file in /proc/[1-9]*/status do...

Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

Oops @elorimer , post this just as your posted the above….Sorry Not to beat this swap discussion to death - but knowing what ”swap” means/implies is important to understand. As @ColinTaylor pointed out, the Linux kernel thinks in terms of virtual memory. Virtual memory = real memory (i.e...

Need help with a bad DHCP issue!!!!

HINT Control is a great app - anyone using T-Mobile 5G routers should have it. I made a mini version that runs on Asuswrt-merlin. tmo.sh I mainly use it for cases where the WAN speed drops to almost 0. Like evening when there are lots of mobile devices and home users keeping the radio towers...

Need help with a bad DHCP issue!!!!

I have a T-Mobile Sagemcomm Router. As far as I know, there is no way to set it to bridge mode. The best you can do is turn off the WiFi radios. And this requires a script - can’t be done by the T-Mobile app. I have the Sagemcomm conneced to the WAN port on an AX58U. Has it’s own SSID and...

Script to Back Up & Restore Subsets of NVRAM Variable Settings.

I thought the same thing - knowing that other such as Xentrk and @Martineau did do some work on the now outdated NVRAM Save/Restore. But, then I remembered why that script was doomed. The number of changes, new features/nvram variables, differences between hardware and software releases make it...

Script to Back Up & Restore Subsets of NVRAM Variable Settings.

Ahh, hopefully a way to help reduce the anxiety of a factory reset. Thanks @Martinski . Now - to figure out which nvram variables are "safe" to safe/restore. BTW, I made a quick tweak to not show keys with a null variable (and a tee to create a csv file) nvram show 2>/dev/null | sort -fd -t...

Updated Hue Utility - huetil Control and manage your Hue system from Asuswrt-Merlin or Raspbian

There is an update to huetil. I have added the ability to set the color of a light or group using RGB values. I.e red is 255 0 0, blue 0 0 255 and purple 255 0 255. The Philips Hue API doesn’t support RGB values so I convert RGB to CIE xy. There will be some loss of accuracy - but with the...

Aura RGB LED Scene Application Script

I have a few example scripts that use huetil to show download speeds and another that shows CPU load. They use a few Philips Hue bulbs and the above mentioned huetil script to control the colors. Look in the examples directory in my github for hueshowspeed and hueshowload...

Philips Hue - LAN Port to be part of YazFi Wireless Guest Network Subnet

On the Philips Hue - when you manage the Hue using the app on a phone or tablet, do you need to put the phone/tablet on the Guest Network (at least until you finish)?

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

modprobe should work just as well! No worries, l just wanted to make sure the missing kernel module was loaded before attempting to login to an smb share.

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Anyone that installs Addons and things like Entware and tweaks their settings - would be foolish not to install BACKUPMON. Works in the background, out of sight and out of mind - until disaster strikes. One bit of advice for a quicker recovery - copy the files backupmon.sh and backupmon.cfg to a...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Well it finally happened this morning… I somewhat bricked my AX88U Pro. I was trying to move it’s power plug to the correct one on a UPS. Without a true “shutdown -h” command (sadly, but lets not debate the point), I typically do a reboot and watch until the Power LED turns off. Then pull the...

    Asus RT-AX88U Pro

Hmm. Here are my settings and I ran a speedtest. In fact, I run spdMerlin (I believe it uses Ooka). Seems fine on my end. Oh well, keep it at 1500. Like I said, likely not a big impact.

    Asus RT-AX88U Pro

You don’t “have to” but it is recommended. It will reduce some of the possible fragmentation. In many cases, the performance improvement is not huge. I did see some slight improvement. Again, the MTU is recommended to be 1420 (not the routers default 1500).

Updated Hue Utility - huetil Control and manage your Hue system from Asuswrt-Merlin or Raspbian

I had once posted a port of a utility that allowed you to manage and control a Hue Lighting system from Asuswrt-merlin - mhue. I was never really happy with the command syntax and lack of a few features. So, I've spent a few months working on a very different and updated version. I call it...
