    Asuswrt-Merlin AddOn Developers Donation Links

As I just update the Donations list (@Viktor Jaep has added many new addons!!!!) it’s a good time to remind everyone of all the great work and addons the developers bring to our Asus routers! If you use one or many, consider a nice donation to show them your appreciation.

mount using SMB1 only despite vers=2.1 specified

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I believe he will have to do this when he gets his new AX88U Pro router. I still am doing it with mine…

mount using SMB1 only despite vers=2.1 specified

I'm running an AX88U Pro and as long as you add: /sbin/modprobe md4 to /jffs/scripts/services-start, you will be good to go!

New Addon for Starlink users - now using Entware grpcurl

Its quite an old terminal/GUI system, 1999 or so. Its used by many companies as part of the boot->install since it's simple and helpful with it's mini widgets. Some of the original Linux early distributions like Slakware used it. Here are a few links...

New Addon for Starlink users - now using Entware grpcurl

Thanks @Viktor Jaep ! It's the first release - hopefully I get some good feedback from users. BTW, you should check out "dialog". Its a fun tool for simple terminal/GUI kinds of things. I'm thinking I might adapt your PWRMON to work with SunPower based solar systems. I'm starting to research...

New Addon for Starlink users - now using Entware grpcurl

Now that Entware support grpcurl, I have update this addon to now use the Entware version. This allows most all Asuswrt-routers to run starlnk. I have also updated the Readme and install instructions below...

    halt the router through cronjob

Too many #ifdefs. My head hurts as well… All I care about is making sure Entware/External USB/Addons are safe and synced before turning off the power. Asus rightly assumes no Entware, No addons and their databases - the ”normal home user”. Turning the router off is fine - everything gets...

    halt the router through cronjob

exec halt or kill -QUIT 1? I have been reading through some of the code. The halt command is actually a link to Asus rc. So it has knowledge of the firmware. kill is linked to busybox and doesn’t really know about things like nvram, firmware stuff.

    halt the router through cronjob

BTW, try: Not sure it will work - I can’t test it on my home router ;-)

vnStat usb vs. jffs storage location

Most scripts that offer the choice (especially @Jack Yaz and forks) will use your attached external drive where entware was installed. The directory is usually /opt/share/ with a subdirectoy of the addon name.

    halt the router through cronjob

Can’t answer why the halt doesn’t work in a cronjob, but be careful with “halt” of you have any storage devices connected or some scripts running. It really does “halt” so I don’t believe it does any clean unmounts of storage or call some of the various “stop” scripts. I too wish there was a...

    RMerlin under Hyper-V?

Wow, impressive! I thought I had quite a few (I believe around 8, 4 in service, one for trying code and the rest in various states of needing repair). I would think with all that RF, you wear a Faraday cap...

fsmd - taking lots of CPU cycles

When running htop, I'm seeing a process called fsmd consuming between 5%-10% of CPU. I see it's located in /usr/sbin and the date on the file is the same as all the other executables in the directory. A Google search only had a hit - called Finite State Machine with Datapath. I don't believe I...

    RMerlin under Hyper-V?

I followed this thread— @RMerlin your router lab photo sends a 404. Time for a new one?

Plex Media Server running on AsusWRT Arm Routers!!!

This thread is quite old. Ironically enough, another user just posted instructions in the Addon thread area: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/debian-12-bookworm-plex-media-server-asus-rt-ax86s.86175/ When I ran Plex years ago on an AX88U it ran good, much better than minidlna. I know run it...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

@Viktor Jaep , @Jeffrey Young makes a good point. Maybe an option to allow the Target to be an already mounted filesystem. That way it can be anything, even another USB attached drive. I too was surprised by statements that NFS is dead/dying. My observation a few years ago when I was still...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Very true and UUID is handy when dealing with more than a few drives when formatting, labeling etc. But the UUID strings are very convoluted for us humans. Labeling a parition on these routers are very simple, even after formatting. And you pick the name. tune2fs is your friend (and available...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Yes, it could become a bit of a rabbit hole in mult-disk/paritition situations. One idea (i’m sure there are others) for someone that doesn’t want to actually come up with a unique label - get the UUID and do some kind of version of that. In any case, most anything is better than sda1,sdb3, etc...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

I would take the @thelonelycoder advice and lift the few lines from his email script. It’s literally one line to encrypt and another to decrypt. I used it in tmo.sh to handle the password for T-Mobile’s gateway. Very easy. And a win/win - takes care of special chars and also stores it in...
