Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I do not think so. The booted linux OS, it thinks there 40.5M FREE on /jffs. The feels like a NAND level lack of space for its GC to use to move files around in whatever size erase blocks it uses a/o those bad blocks are making it impossible to run the GC. I really don't know anymore. df -hT...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Yeap - and this burns a lot of folks - remember the computer industry does not like to talk about the SSD / GC issues with TRIM. Linux by default does NOT enable TRIM and that's b/c the Linux TRIM code sux. This is a Flash NAND Garbage Collection issue a/or bad blocks interfering with GC issue...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^ Not quite. When I (and others) take the JFFS backup, the logs are NOT reporting any JFFS/CRC/GC errors. When I restore the JFFS backup and run without the J* scripts hitting the JFFS, no errors are reported and all appears GTG. Also, the JFFS backup is a simple tar file which is untared to...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Nope.. you are not seeing wrong.. I've been seeing these since 384.19... but I didn't want to add more "issues" to this already hot thread. I've seen these happening at very odd times during the day. I know the modem is not dropping this much.... Sep 7 02:35:26 kernel: eth0 (Int switch...

uiDivStats uiDivStats - WebUI for Diversion statistics

How do I removed uiDivStats completely from the setup, including the DB files? I've tried uninstalling, then waiting 10 minutes and reinstalling but the setup wants to hang always with "stale locked files found > 600 seconds".. whenever I try to force it to update. I think the DB might be too...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I'm posting the results of my format JFFS + 3 reboots 10+ minutes apart. This is the 4th time the JFFS has been formatted in the past 2 weeks since my 384.19 + ASUS JFFS resize journey nightmare FUBAR started. I've had the J* scripts using the USB for a week +, with no CRC / JFFS errors...

    amtm amtm step-by-step install guide - L&LD

^^^ Yeah really retro :) The book though, might be worth a quick read. Of course I've been around since before PC's were invented. It works for me - YMMV. ;)

    amtm amtm step-by-step install guide - L&LD

I also recommend these two in addition to the above for more "hard core" development: a) Mobaxterm -> Home Free, Paid $69USD -> https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/download.html b) Scooter Software's BeyondCompare -> $30-$60 USD depending on the edition -> http://scootersoftware.com/ Both are...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

BLUF: Two issues have been reported with 384.19 specifically on the AC86U: Issues with 5GHz dropping have been reported earlier. ASUS resizing the JFFS from 48M to 47M has caused some of us issues when using AMTM J* scripts hitting the JFFS. Others have had 0 issues. YMMV. I agree with...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Correct. People have warned that OpenVPN config items are stored in JFFS. I didn't know that's where the router stashes the dhcp items. I had to stop using that more than a year back as my list is too large so I use the file approach. I'm still planning what to do about my in-line AC86U...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^^ TY. I was sort of leaning that way with the hidden dirs -> /jffs/.sys/... So I think this is what I'm going to do... and if I still see issues, then it's @L&LD nuclear reset and start over. Since already upgraded to 384.19, below. This is similar to what I have in the 384.19 upgrade...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Yes, that is what I was thinking too. Then I thought well if the JFFS is not enabled, would the router bother to format it? Rock/us/Rock I was thinking backup, disable, check format, then do @L&LD procedure with 3 reboots, then enable, check format, 3 more reboots... and run from there. ;)...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^^ Yeap.. my conclusion is if you do not use JFFS for the AMTM J* scripts etc...or you do not have JFFS enabled, then you may not ever see this issue or it may bite in a different way we've not seen down the road. Let's hope very much for the former.! Peace.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

K, so we should add "rm /jffs/.sys/nc/nt_center.db" to the 384.19 upgrade instructions and maybe as a best practice moving forward since this may be a recurring gotcha?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

TY for the detail! I looked earlier when you listed this as another upgrade gotcha. I noticed this file was created during startup with the (05 May date) before time was set. I will delete this file before backing up the JFFS during my next round of attempts to stabilize the AC86U. Are you...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

It's the same symptom I saw after I let the CRC errors run for maybe 12 hours when they first appeared. They seem to eventually "fill" the JFFS (or think it's full) and all the J* scripts start failing to run. You cannot create any files or directories on the JFFS. A reboot will give you...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Please explain "use the erase option" is there a command to "erase" the JFFS manually? I would think the JFFS has to be unmounted to perform a format etc ... on it. which is why ASUS has you reboot the router... it has code to "format the JFFS" before releasing it is my guess during boot time.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Good call. I had already thought about adding this to the steps. Then the multi-reboot format... Not tried.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

The flash is performing garbage collection (GC) on the media. It is getting CRC errors which means the data at that storage location is corrupted. See my several posts over the past few pages. What I've done is move the J* AMTM scripts to use the USB drive fore now. I rebooted the router b/c...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

the fsck might have repaired the error but if you can format the USB, that's the best longer term solution. You get these if the USB is yanked without the filesystem flushing buffers or maybe loss of power.
