    Did you already try commenting out the additional IPv6 interfaces? ... If an interface you specified in the unbound.conf is down then unbound wont start per this post If you find that is the case theres an config option you could try..... i have no idea if its applicable to your case

    Yes i made sure dnsmasq is primary DNS before i started the upgrade .. i can't see any unbound manager code that would potentially interfere.. but its hard to tell when you're not entirely sure what you are looking for :oops:

    I wasn't aware you had that level of control ... looking at the blurb it would appear that you can specify the view name and type when you add but when you want to remove it doesn't mention the type..... view_list_local_zones view list local-zones in view view_list_local_data view...

    Yes indeed... i knew we had the vh there for help with the unbound.conf file, so i was thinking something similar for the views... i found that if i do a manual edit of the views file, its important to follow the way that the script adds entries with the zones and access-control-view statements...

    Do you think it would be worth including a viewsh option with an example views.conf file? You can really mess with the scripts views duplicates checking if you don't follow the format when editing manually.

    I can confirm that issuing the unbound-control reload command kills unbound silently in the console, but for me ( tried twice) there is nothing in syslog, only the dnsmasq restart stuff as a consequence... i shouldn't have to dial up the logging level right?.... that pretty terminal EDIT: Sorry...

    Your syntax error was probably because the access-control-view: statement needs to be part of the server: clause. Yes unbound needs to see your clients IP directly for redirection with views to work.. If your clients are querying dnsmasq first then unbound will only see requests from 127.0.0.1...

    Superb! Unlikely scenario... but if you use viewsx before creating a view on the command line there will be an MD5 error as file isn't there yet.... md5sum: can't open '/opt/share/unbound/configs/unbound.conf.views': No such file or directory
