Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

If I look in my log the VLAN numbers are there. See attached file. VLAN = 0 or 52 or 53. Running an AX88 Pro on Beta 1.

Need help with ASUS GT AXE 2.4Ghz band WIFI

It is possible on my AX88 Pro to select the Authentication method to be WPA- WPA2 Personnel. You still will have to use AES encryption as the option to use AES-TKIP doesn't work even if it appears in the pull-down window.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Thanks for your reply. When the pull down for the authentication is used to select WPA - WPA2 Personal this then gives you the pull down encryption choices are AES or AES + TKIP. Unfortunately even if you select AES +TKIP you still end up with AES. I have confirmed this using WiFi...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Thanks for the heads up. Works very well and using this method you can assign IPs to Ethernet connected devices if when setting up a Port based VLAN you assigned it too the same subnet as a guest network. Has anyone experimented with the option of 802.1Q VLANs to see how it works or what it...

Need help with ASUS GT AXE 2.4Ghz band WIFI

Alexa devices don't like it if you use secure DNS over DOT. In the DNS director set it so the Alexa devices use 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or some other standard DNS resolver.

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.5 -Apr 12, 2025- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

Very nice. One interesting output feature is the way that Ethernet connected devices that are on the same VLAN subnet as a guest network display. Thank you for your continuing work on this utility.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Dirty upgrade from Alpha2 and two things that I noticed. 1. It may have been mentioned but after installing I noticed that WPS was enabled apparently by default. Might have missed this in the alphas. 2. In my grudge match with my Honeywell thermostat and trying to connect it to my AX88...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

I had to remove YazDHCP in the Alpha versions as it wasn't working and interfered with manually trying to assign IPs. Haven't tried with the Beta.

    Aerial Fiber

Lots of fiber is aerial. When you are driving down the road it is easy to spot aerial fiber. Just look for what people call "snowshoes" which are the spools you see along fiber aerial plant where they coil up the extra cable that allows them to drop the plant to ground level so in case...

3006 firmware branch not ready for prime time

I also have a Honeywell thermostat and I have not been able to connect it to myAX88 Pro running alpha2. Have tried everything I can think of, and it still won't connect. Have tried putting 2.4 Ghz in N only, Legacy, Auto modes. Since I use DOT for DNS which seems to cause problems for...

    AX88U Pro and VLANs

I don't know if you could get 802.1Q VLANs to work if you used switches from different manufacturers. The data packets have a wrapper and no idea if there is an industry standard. Also as I said setting up 802.1Q might be confusing and trying to follow different instructions from two...

    AX88U Pro and VLANs

You don't have to do anything on the router. You just run an Ethernet cable from a LAN port on the router to a LAN port on the first switch in the network. Through the firmware on the switch you set up the 802.1Q vlan(s). You then using your existing Ethernet drop connect to the smart...

    AX88U Pro and VLANs

Another option to consider is to use inexpensive smart switches and set up 802.1Q VLANs. This implementation of VLANs allows you to run multiple VLANs over a single Ethernet cable. You would need a pair of switches but at US$23 each it is probably less costly than a pair of MOCA adapters.

RT-AX86U PRO - CSIMON: M2M usr already registered

Try downgrading the modulation scheme one step at a time to see if that helps. IoT devices in particular seem to have the most problems connecting and staying connected to 2.4 Ghz radios with all the bells and whistles enbled. I am getting to the point where for certain IoT devices I have...

Skynet Skynet - Simple way to ban all countries?

Test your download speed before and after you add multiple countries to your blocking list. I noticed a significant decrease in speed with the router having to look at tens of thousands IP ranges for 22 countries. You will need to decide for yourself what is most important marginal increases...

    We have liftoff

Installed alpha version and encountered a few quirks: After the update only guest networks carried over were the mesh guest networks which previously had been1 & 4. This caused me some immediate problems as I had a number of other IoT devices on other Guest Networks. Tried to revert to...

RT-AX88U Pro vs GT-AX6000, why GT is much cheaper?

The readings shown were taken while running backups using BACKUPMON and with the printer on. I run a primary and secondary backup. One of the backups copies from the small SSD to the other USB drive both of which are plugged into the hub. The secondary backup goes from the SSD to my NAS...

RT-AX88U Pro vs GT-AX6000, why GT is much cheaper?

I had a chance today to check the power usage by plugging my Klein Tools USB digital meter in between the router's USB port and the USB hub I am using. The meter will measure between 3V - 20V and up to 3 Amps. With both USB drives connected and the printer ON the three devices were pulling...

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

No not at the same time. When I run a speed on the router to the WAN at a local server it reports a speed of 940-960 Mbps. This is the same speed I get when I run a speed test on the PC which is what you would expect with an 800 Mbps plan from Xfinity with overprovisioning...
