    AiMesh or not to AiMesh

On a rural property with 4 AI mesh nodes total switching from old fashioned to aimesh has been a huge time saver. As AI mesh interface becomes more functional (like the recent upgrade to allow remote nodes to use USB apps) i have seen no reason to go back so far. Managing shady IOT devices from...

    Topology Question RE: STP

I’ve got an AiMesh setup with 4 AC68Us and an old N66u that just works like a switch, no wireless enabled. A multi layer Cisco switch ties the whole network together. I’m looking to add redundant links due to running cables for other reasons anyways. There doesnt seem to be any options in the...

    Pihole vs. Absolution

Pihole returns its pihole ip address for ‘’blocked’’ domains. HTTP ads get a blank or 1x1 pixel ad, https ads get their traffic rejected based on that ruleset. Am I reading it incorrectly? Regardless if someone calls pixelserv a MITM attack, there’s something to be said for questioning having...

    Noob afraid to upgrade Merlin

Unless you're an animal, dont prt screen into word documents, use sharex. It will take 1/10th of the time and its an easier solution. Flash, save your settings externally, reset, reset, unplug, flash some more, see what breaks. Rinse, repeat. Its fun.

    Pihole vs. Absolution

I've deployed and used both of them in multiple scenarios. Both work well. I like the wildcard blocking pihole does. I like the https option on ABS + pixelserv-tls. ABS is lightweight and has a smaller physical footprint Pihole is easier to whitelist and blacklist things as needed. Someone...

Centurylink 1Gbps WAN Speed 1/2 what it should be

Does centurylink still require you to use vlan201 for your wan connection? If so does that turn off the hardware accelerated CTF?

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

The wildcard domains are a separate file in pihole. My end goal is to script this, im just publicly posting how im going about everything: in blocking_file already .baddomain.com web page requests proxy.gotcha.baddomain.com dnsmasq on asus router forwards proxy.gotcha.baddomain.com to...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

Yessir, I use a pile of custom lists with that custom blocking file. List is over a million right now. IIRC the script doesnt allow for a local host file though, correct? it wont read from /foo/bar/directory/list but it will read from http://www.foo.bar/ldiretory/list.txt I'm doing this in an...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

If I wanted ab-solution to use a locally stored file as a custom host list... Could I potentially use the opkg version of lighttpd (on a different port) + a cronjob with curl + whatever awk, sed, grep, cut commands I choose serve the file from another ‘“server” running locally? So in ab-solution...

ab-solution keep running after changed to AP MODE?

is there a way to keep ab-solution and pixelserv-tls working after switching to AP mode? I am very familiar with configuring dnsmasq in linux and with busybox in general, I just dont know how services change when turning off the rest of the routing features. Would be awesome to keep it...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

This is A++++ right here. I use both in different networks at the moment and would love to merge the two. That is bounty worthy.

    Ab-solution/pixelserv usb question

As far as how quickly those programs run, are there any practical differences when using a name brand super fast USB stick in the USB 3.0 slot vs a throwaway 5 year old USB 2.0 stick in the usb 2.0 slot? The USB 3.0 hardware port issues with the AC68u are what have made me just use the usb 2.0...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

I'm sorry, I should have elaborated more on that. It was taking too long because my WAN connection out here is a wired LTE modem, not because there's an issue with ab-solution on this router.

    netgear lb2120 telnet?

Just got this LTE modem/router for a failover setup and the normal version of telnetenable is not working. Any suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting? I port scan and no matter what payload I send using the windows telnetenable client I cannot get telnet to show as open
