    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

Hey guys, Sorry, I didn't intentionally disappear from this thread! I didn't make any decisions 6-months ago, but almost pulled the trigger last night on a 3-pack of the Eero 6E Pro via Amazon deal. Ultimately, I've decided to stick with what I've got: Orbi RBK50 Wi-Fi 5 set up (including...

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

All valid points. $1500 never felt 'right' to me either, based on the (correct) assumptions that you're likely making that I don't have several devices that would see an immediate benefit. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any obviously 6E solution that was significantly cheaper.

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

That might be the ticket right there! Wondering how much they gimp the operation by using Standalone (non-Insight) mode?

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

I think you nailed it. I can add the wired uplink for ~$300 that will give me 2.5/5/10GE to all applicable wired devices that I have today. But here we are stuck with limited 6E options at reasonable prices. It's not like anyone in my house is complaining about the Wi-Fi 5 speeds or my current...

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

I'd prefer to have a single/small switch like this for my access points, that also supports 10GE + 5GE so I can pass that speed to both my Netgear Prosafe M5300-28G3 uplink/main switch, as well as directly to the handful of 10GE devices I have. This TRENDnet checks all those boxes, but it only...

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

I plan on using a TRENDnet TEG-S762 switch that will do the same thing as the Qnap card you linked - take in 5Gb and link @ 10Gb to my uplink 10Gb switch, as well as pass 2.5Gb on to the access points. This switch is out of stock on Amazon, where I need to use a fair amount of credits. Come on...

    Have: 5Gbps internet/gateway, need: Wi-Fi 6E mesh (3 APs)

Today I upgraded from 1Gbps AT&T Fiber, to 5Gbps AT&T Fiber (via BGW-320 gateway). This gateway has a single 5Gb (/2.5Gb/1Gb) LAN port, and three 1Gb LAN ports. For Wi-Fi, I currently have an Orbi system consisting of RBR50 AC3000 router, two Orbi satellites, and an Orbi outdoor satellite...

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

Prices seem very reasonable on those! I get my 5Gb Fiber installed in one week. I'm still kicking around some ideas, I'll report back!

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

Sounds like a fun project, but more complexity than I have the time for currently. I'm also considering upgrading my Orbi mesh system to take advantage of Wi-Fi 6E, so that adds more complexity with wired backhaul, the AT&T gateway and the Orbi router/access points in different rooms. I already...

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

I can appreciate that. However (like many people) my home internet is crucial for me (and my wife's) work. So dinking around with a dedicated PC to handle routing (especially considering I'd surely stumble at first) would make for a very tenuous situation on the home front ha.

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

I like the creative thinking :) I dunno it my main Netgear is 18 years old, but it's certainly 10 years. I didn't pay a lot for it, but I assumed the 10G ports would at least give me some bit of future-proofing. But now that 802.3bz is catching on, looks like 10GBASE-T is not as useful for...

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

This is the most info I can find on the BGW320 https://help.sonic.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500000066642-ARRIS-BGW320 The literature seems to indicate the single "blue" port on the back supports 100/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb I know you struck the comment about the SFP+ module for the M5300-28G3.. that's an...

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

Ah shoot. I was afraid of that. Any workarounds? Replacing both of my 100/1000/10GBase-T switches gonna be $$$.

    5Gb gateway/router to 10Gb switches and 2.5Gb clients?

I almost feel silly asking this, but I'm giving up and coming to the experts here :) In a couple of weeks, I'm going to get a new gateway/router from AT&T with 5Gb fiber internet service. It's a Arris BGW320 that has a 5Gb LAN port. I plan on connecting that 5Gb port to my Netgear ProSafe...

    Wi-Fi 6E: The Basics

Great article and overview. My main takeaway was that I'm not going to (ever?) be able to upgrade my Orbi RBR50/RBS50 and RBS50Y outdoor satellites to Wi-Fi 6E due to these new Low Power rules preventing weatherproof enclosures. I found it odd that Netgear never made a Wi-Fi 6 version of the...

Use Netgear Orbi + LTE Nighthawk Hotspot as failover option?

Thank you for your reply. I still might look into the LB2120 you referenced.... And you're saying it can support load balancing with a wired LAN? After a quick look at the documentation, that functionality didn't stand out to me.

Use Netgear Orbi + LTE Nighthawk Hotspot as failover option?

Thanks. But the Nighthawk LTE hotspot appeals to me because of the hotspot/portability functionality. So, I have to assume what I'm looking to do with these two pieces of gear is not an option?

Use Netgear Orbi + LTE Nighthawk Hotspot as failover option?

Hi guys, Not sure this is possible, but is there any (relatively cheap) way to leverage the new Netgear LTE Nighthawk Hotspot as a failover and/or BGP load balancing option for my existing Orbi router? https://www.att.com/devices/netgear/nighthawk-lte-mobile-hotspot-router.html#sku=sku8550255

Mesh network Wi-Fi: have lots of ethernet drops (Orbi questions)

Mainly iPhone 7 Plus, and various iPad models. Yes, "too close" is another concern of mine, due to reasons you mentioned. Well, I think my trusty Cisco WAP4100N is about to bite the dust. For the past few days, it has (apparently) been completely turning of its WiFi radio for 1-2 seconds at...

Mesh network Wi-Fi: have lots of ethernet drops (Orbi questions)

Hi guys, just an update. I actually moved my Cisco Wi-Fi access point (#1) about 5 feet closer to the backyard area/green box, and coverage is decent out there. I turned off the Wi-Fi on the Apple AirPort Express (#2), so now no issues with client handoff between the two access points. Everyone...
