pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Still here!, pixelserv.c prompted by the comment here, that it can't be done, but I had been adblocking with dnsmasq for many years before http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/pixelserv-compiled-to-run-on-router-wrt54g.30509/ took a while until real programmers picked it up!

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

A long time ago the timeout was 2 seconds, but someone had a device that needed 3 seconds to avoid browser error message - possibly due to it trying to negotiate secure connection when they were not handled by old version, so default raised and made configurable. Re buf size, my V31 had this...

SP's DHCP did not function properly, help please

That error message is not quite what it seems, it just means something wrong with the WAN connection. You have a very short WAN dhcp lease - I guess you have a PPPoA ADSL connection and an adsl router pretending to be a half-bridge modem? I recommend you look at modem stats/logs first.

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

I used to use variants of this a lot, I suspect the un/squashfs-lzma and signature tools now need to be updated, but last version is archived by Google https://code.google.com/archive/p/firmware-mod-kit/downloads Original was by Jeremy Collake on bitsum https://bitsum.com/firmware_mod_kit.htm

Slow (capped) 5Ghz wifi on RT-N66u

You do realise that going from the Netgear/Broadcom Superhub 2.0 to the Arris/Intel Hub 3.0 is a downgrade in many respects? Variable latency to the internet, and even pinging the modem from the lan - due to the Bugged Intel Puma Chipset and inadequate DOCSIS specifications and testing. I'm...

    Many thanks

RT-N66U port forward rule stopped working after upgrade to 380.68_4

Not yet on this firmware, but try toggling the WAN IP local nat loopback setting. IIRC it has options for Asus or Merlin methods. Must be working if you can access via the the DDNS url via LAN, but worth trying both.

    dnsmasq vulnerabilities

But alpha 382 already using version 2.78 so it will come, looks to be LAN side only so not big issue IMHO...

PPTP over PPPoA with SpeedTouch pppd loosing connection

These manufacturer specific half-bridge modes are always a pain, can you not get your isp to support PPPoE when the modem can be put into full-bridge mode? If you are stuck with this looks like you need a wan monitor ping script to do the actions you are taking manually?

    RT-N66U - Not capable of 300mpbs

VM Hub 3.0 in modem mode (It definitely isn't Super!)? The Arris manufactured Hub 3.0 does have the buggy Intel Puma chipset, but that seems to just give intermittent variable ping spikes not affecting raw throughput on speedtest. I think I get 230 Mbps on the 200 service using HW acceleration...

    Can't change Dnsmasq cache size

The easiest way to create and edit the required file is to use winscp which needs to login to the router using SSH.

Update last RT-N16 firmware file with new headers

RT-N16 also has a bad capacitor problem - search for threads about repairing the hardware.

    Unable to allocate cache

The log doesn't say what caused the problem on Aug 31 21:46:37 - my point was that the error messages are old, not re-occurring after boot.

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

Why would they? Surely with tight integration with Asus mobile tools they aim hook users into buying more Asus products. I assume Tomato's Device List is open-source (but gui licence not clear), just build a database linking arp table, dhcp static and dynamic lease table, wifi connection info...

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

All very clear and sensible, I find it hard to believe Asus also haven't moved the MIPS based routers into a security only 'care and maintenance' role, they have kept updating for a very long time compared to other manufacturers, I hope they appreciate the number of customer recommendations that...

Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly.

Re: retriggering of wan check scripts, see my workaround here - the wan may restarted several times during boot-up, especially with half-bridge modems that may initially give out a local IP address! https://www.snbforums.com/threads/n66u-losing-wan-after-modem-reboot.32546/#post-261294...

    Unable to allocate cache

The router doesn't crash during boot, your router stores some old syslog on jffs which gets added to on boot. The reboots start with time rolled back to Aug 1st, time not updated till ntp update runs Aug 31 21:46:37 kernel: SLUB: Unable to allocate memory on node -1 (gfp=0x21) Aug 31 21:46:37...

Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly.

I wouldn't want a script to restart the wan on first ping failure - my ISP at least seems to drop icmp ping messages as low priority (and now also due to the buggy Puma 6 chipset in the CM...). Restarting WAN unnecessarily tends to annoy users!

Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly.

Amazing we are still having problems with this ancient dhcp protocol, BusyBox udhcpc is also important, I think recent updates have fixed a dhcp reconnect issue for which I have used a ping script to monitor - one potential issue is that ISP cable modems are 'half bridge' devices that will give...
