My solution to AIMesh not adding a node with RT-AC68u & AXE11000

For anyone having AIMesh node add issues, here is my simple (but annoying) fix. I just troubleshot my first AIMesh setup attempt an hour ago. It seems like it doesn't setup unless you have a wired (ethernet) connection between each router. Both are on their latest firmwares, and both had...

    Asus AiMesh hard wired?

I just troubleshot my first aimesh setup attempt an hour ago. It seems like it doesn't setup unless you have a wired (ethernet) connection between each router. In your case, you do not have one - it would be wireless. Not sure , but you'd need to connect a RJ45 to each router that permits...

Need help tracking down recurring AC68U space issue

So, I this watch command running for days. The top entry was always /tmp, and it got up to 1004K. I stopped the command to check some other stuff, but when I reran the same watch command the /tmp entry is not visible on the list. It should be the top entry still. Any ideas why? Still no...

Can't run multiple guest networks simultaneously

ah, was reading from the main page in the UI. But I think I found my issue. I set the new network to way too short a duration. I think it was stopping the network right after starting it. I didn't realize what that value would do. I figured it would boot a user after being connected...

Can't run multiple guest networks simultaneously

Right now it says 62MB used of 256MB. Anyone have any other ideas? Checking the log, I notice this, which sounds like a bug. <15>1 2021-01-18T15:22:06-05:00 RT-AC68U-2AD8-A2BD388-C syslog - - - syslog: Error unlocking 5: 9 Bad file descriptor <15>1 2021-01-18T15:22:06-05:00...

Can't run multiple guest networks simultaneously

I"m wondering if I'm hitting a limitation for my model? The 3 active SSIDs being a max? I reset the config for this version, and I only use it for basic firewall and these SSIDs. Would be strange if this was a hardware problem.

Can't run multiple guest networks simultaneously

Version 384.19 This new SSID is a second 2.4Ghz Guest SSID - I have a 2.4Ghz and a 5Ghz Main SSID as well. When I try to enable this 2nd Guest Network, it acts like it does it but it never actually appears in a wifi list on my phone. Yes, I know how to manage wifi. No its not hidden. No I...

Can't run multiple guest networks simultaneously

Is this a bug? I'm trying to run multiple guest networks. Why are there 3 slots in the GUI, if I can't even run 2 of them? Device: AC68U

Need help tracking down recurring AC68U space issue

Latest always means non beta latest - 384.19. I will try to run that command. How can I run that command set with 'watch'?

Need help tracking down recurring AC68U space issue

I could open an ssh session and run top perpetually. But there doesn't seem to be any memory usage stats in there. Is there any way to tie memory usage to a process o nthis?

Need help tracking down recurring AC68U space issue

I am getting an ongoing issue with space on my router. I'd like to know how I can track down the cause of this. I'm not using this for anything but standard router/wifi. I've already reset my config, to see if that helps. If anyone has ideas on commands to run regularly, as well as anything...

SOLVED: Oopsie - Any built-in workaround for removal of Loopback routing?

Found my issue. The "Enable Port Forwarding" option had not been enabled, after I full reset the config. Oops.

SOLVED: Oopsie - Any built-in workaround for removal of Loopback routing?

SOLVED: Found my issue. The "Enable Port Forwarding" option had not been enabled, after I full reset the config. Oops. I've just upgraded to the latest version of the AC68U firmware which prevents loopback routing. This is a big deal for me since it breaks my ability to sync my phone files...

    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

FYI, those messages are marked with Emergency severity level when sent via syslog. Which is laughable. They should be Warning only. Any chance you can pass along this as a bug to ASUS? I've already opened a support case related to the latest firmware for RT-AC68u. The events are flooding...

    ASUS RT-AC86U firmware release 3.0.0.4.384.45713

This asus firmware is flooding me with alerts about garbage! I monitor for all high severity events via syslog. This firmware considers these silly "acsd: scan in progress" messages as Emergency! WTF! That is crazy terrible. I've gotten 100 email alerts since upgrading an hour ago. What...
